First Time Question - How Busy is Friday and Mon

PaizoCon General Discussion

Hello all.

So husband and I are going to attend PaizoCon after years
of talking about it. We have the badge but now need to look
at booking room and flight from the east coast.

I know the schedule isn't up but how busy traditionally is Friday and Monday? Lots of Friday morning games or late Monday games?

Never heard of a gaming convention that did not end on Sunday.

Paizocon is memorial day weekend.

So I believe they have stuff going on, but I've never been, so I can't say for sure. :-)

If memory serves, there are unofficial things happening on Thursday, or that can be used as a day to 'regroup' after traveling.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are 'full' days (with the afternoon slot 'off' as of last year) and Monday has a 'morning slot' with some informal things in the afternoon (along with some unofficial/regroup things going on).

Yes, Friday morning is a full day. Monday has morning activities; those are often good chances to get some fun lottery games as attendees thin out. I was killed by Owen KC Stephens on a Monday morning.

Cool thanks all.
Sounds like we need to fly in Thursday and fly out either Monday night or Tuesday morning.

What is the airport normally like on that Monday as it's a holiday?

I haven't done it as I'm just driving up from Portland. I would expect it to be crowded. Google "Seattle airport on Memorial Day" and you'll be able to get some historical perspective.

I've flown in on Friday evening and out on Monday early afternoon the last 4 years and the airport has never been crazy busy - just an airport.

The only thing I think you need to really keep in mind for the Seattle airport is the security line really r e a l l y fluctuates in time and length. Just something to keep in mind for departure affairs.

I've generally flown out either Monday night or Tuesday morning. I actually prefer to fly out Tuesday morning, because I have enough friends and such in town that we generally do some unofficial "after-con" games on Monday, or other things. If you're interested in that sort of thing (as well as pre-con games on Thursday), there will be lots of unofficial organization of that sort of stuff on the forums.

My flying out on Tuesday early afternoon last year turned into flying out Tuesday night due to weather between Seattle and home.

Almost didn't make the 'flight window' on the way home, and wouldn't wish that last half hour of flight on anyone.

That aside, flying out on Tuesday allows for less stress if you can afford it with trying to unwind/relax.

Scarab con runs games on Monday. We call it module Monday, because it's almost all people play.

Arisia ends on Monday as well, as it's also over a holiday weekend.

PAX West is also four day, ending on a holiday Monday.
