Undead with DR

Advice

Literally looking for any Undead with either metal or alignment resistances. I.e. I know vamps have DR against magic/silver.

Liberty's Edge

There's the Ghul, which has DR/Good. Or the Manananggal which has DR/Good or Silver. Or Nightshades in general, which have DR/Good and Silver.

I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones I could find with a quick search.

dread vampires dr good and silver dread lich magic and good dread mummy has dr/-

Alright. I was hoping someone knew a slew off their heads, since I was going to bed and then work when I posted it, but I'll filter through the listings for Undead when I get home.

Basically, my DM asked me why he should include Aligned Weapons and Versatile Weapons spells in a custom artifact made for an undead hunter. I'm hoping to find more than just good/magic/silver.

Remember that enhancements at a certain level allow you to bypass many types of DR.

That aside...

Vampire Spawn (Silver), Penanggalen (Silver/Slashing), and Ghirru (Good) are things you might face. The Vampire Spawn in particular are a thing that dedicated undead hunters would probably want to plan ways of fighting.

I don't think there are too many aside from physical damage types, silver, and good, though. The HUGE majority of dead are just flat-out evil (so they'll rarely have aligned resistance other than that), and silver is kind of traditional as a mythological bane. XD

A +3 with a bless weapon effect (maybe use/day) would also do the job.

That, and a weapon that switches from bludgeoning to slashing.

Skeletons and zombies, after all.

You can of course exclude piercing. I think there is only one specialized zombie type that is weak to that. Other than that, it is mostly stuff like rakshashas. I am vaguely sure that it piercing was meant to be the weaker weapon type in earlier D&D editions (since it includes bows, one of the high damage weapons, long spears, the strongest simple weapon, and rapiers/shortswords, which are some of the better rogue weapons).

Natural weapons, and I want to save my Amulet of Might Fists for other effects. We're going weird with the custom artifact, but yeah. Claws.(Lookin' at you, Lemeres :D)

you could talk to your dm to see if you could get an AOMF that goes up to +7 or +10

Ah. I see. Yeah, something that just boosts a nice stable bite/claw/claw would do well.

Heck, it would be easy to theme. Maybe something like "The Night King's Crown", which would be an item that once belonged to a powerful werewolf that REALLY hated vampires. Then BAM: silver, blessed, and effective against incorporeal things (for when vampires turn to mist; edit- wait, no, that is a DR thing; still, something for ghosts too would be thematic due to the mist).

grants Eldritch Claws for beating /magic and silver?

Bodak have DR based on cold iron. Probably because they're from the abyss.

Bhuta: not DR, but weakness vs. cold iron
Bodak: DR 10/cold iron
Crone Queen: DR 10/cold iron and slashing
Dybbuk: DR 10/good
Ecorche: DR 15/good and silver
Fext: DR 10/glass or obsidian
Gholdako: DR 5/good
Hollow Serpent: DR 10/magic and silver
Huecuva: DR 5/magic or silver
Ravener: DR 20/good
Tzitzimitl: DR 15/bludgeoning and good
Vukodlak: DR 5/silver
Winterwight: DR 15/bludgeoning and good

but all in all if your going natural attacks and want to overcome dr your going to have to get a +5 enchantment there are very few ways to weazle your way into getting adamantine or alignment bypassing natural attacks.

Dragonchess, that's excellent. Thank you. That's exactly what I needed, and is far more complete than I've found thus far (was only about 1/3 the way through the list).
