Large Warpriest Archer

Advice

I'm pretty sure I'm over thinking this so feel free to put me out of my misery ;)

Sacred Weapon: "Whenever the warpriest hits with his sacred weapon, the weapon damage is based on his level and not the weapon type. "

Enlarge Person: "Any enlarged item that leaves an enlarged creature's possession (including a projectile or thrown weapon) instantly returns to its normal size. This means that thrown and projectile weapons deal their normal damage."

Sooooooo I enlarge the Warpriest to Large. Fire an arrow which goes back to medium, but the sacred weapon overides the weapons normal damage and since the Warpreist is still large uses the Large weapon damage dice for that level.

Or am I drawing that Bow just a weeeee bit much ?

Alternative thought. Instead of resizing the bow with the spell , carry a Large bow and use it once the Warpreist is large enough to use it ?

Sacred Weapon damage is based on character size, not weapon size. It doesn't matter what weapon the Warpriest is using or what size the weapon is, the damage will always be the same.

So a Large Warpriest using a weapon, any weapon, any size, will use the Large Sacred Weapon table for damage.

Or just carry large ammo

I think that this is a case where the specific (Enlarge Person) overrides the general (Sacred Damage). The spell specifically states that fired projectiles do their normal damage.

Sacred weapon damage overrides the normal damage and is based on your size, not the size of the weapon. You have a choice of doing damage as normal, which means the projectile will do damage as a medium arrow, or you can do sacred weapon damage, which is based off your size. It works in your benefit with enlarge person, but it makes you unable to benefit from virtual size increases such as lead blades, gravity bow, or impact weapons, so it's a wash balance wise.

This is a weird interaction I hadn't considered before.

As a GM I would rule you don't use the large size category damage, but I'm not sure what the "correct" answer is.

@Claxon: As long as you're ruling is nonsistent, that's ok. Either Sacred Weapon always goes by Warpriest size, or weapon size changes (including virtual ones) alter the damage. So Either Enlarge Person increases the damage, or Gravity Bow - you can't have neither working.
