Construct Combiner Race help?

I have created a race of quasi constructs using the Advanced Race Guide. One of the Races I wanted to build is basically a Combiner from Transformers.
I cant seem to figure out how to handle it within the system. is it four characters that can combine into one? Or is it a single character who can split into smaller constructs?
And how would I divide/add the ability scores together?
I could really use some help with this.
The point limit I set for myself with this race is a range of 16 to 22
Any input would be really appreciated!


You may want to look at the amalgam template, the fusion psionic power, and the bilocation spell as sources of inspiration.

Also, take a look at a base summoner and a brood master eidolon, and compare their powers and styles.

No links at present (sorry), but maybe later.

It's not directly helpful, but it's a method of getting a rules-basis for looking at these sorts of things.

The "Construct Limb" option allows Small and Tiny Constructs to be "wearable," so you could have one main Construct wear a few others.

I actually have a different subrace from the same "family" that is able to deploy a swarm.


Ok, here is a quick mock up based off the stuff I came up with. It will obviously need tweaking and balancing with the Race Builder from ARG, but I would appreciate your thoughts.

Base creature is Medium
"breaks" into 5 smaller creatures(like transformers or power rangers)
Torso+head=Small
Leg=Small
Arm=Tiny

All Parts are treated as creatures with the same type as base creature with your ability scores adjusted for size:
Small=str-4, Dex+2, Con-2, AC+1, CMB/CMD-1, Stealth +4, Fly +2
Tiny=Str-8, Dex+4, Con-2, AC+2, CMB/CMD-2, Stealth +8, Fly +4

All parts get 1 Construction point(as Animated Object:Bestiary) at character creation and 1 additional CP every 4 Character levels.

All parts have same Base Attack and saves as base creature. They may each act individually. They suffer a -2 to Initiative rolls.
Knowledge gained by a single part is shared with the whole when rejoined. Only the torso may Cast spells(ect)
Each part may benefit from the magic items it "wears" as the coresponding part. Bracers and boots that require both do not function in this state.

If a part looses more than 1/5 of the base creatures HP, it is destroyed and the character suffers a negative level until the missing limb can be rebuilt. If the torso/head is destroyed, the character dies.
