Greetings, I picked up the first issue of the Pathfinder Worldscape comic and am interested in seeing where there series goes with the other heroes- John Carter and Tarzan?! Sweet!- but my question is-
Will the Sword Devil archetype for the Ranger be legal for PFS in the future?
or moreso- will the archetypes this series is bound to show off to represent the other heroes in the book be legal for PFS?

I'm waiting for my copy to be delivered. I order the special edition. How is the archetype? For the ranger?

So far no comic material has been made available in PFS.

While I traded my crystal ball at my last port, following the past makes it seem not likely.

Fwiw, previous comics haven't had new rules content in them, except for maybe a couple of magic items.

I remember seeing on one of the Worldscape previews comment section that there are plans to add the new archetypes to the PRD once the hardcover collection for the series comes out.

Still though, it seems like it'll be a long shot to see those new rules elements added to the AR page.

No Comic before Worldscape has even added anything new to the PRD. Most of the time, they just contained little mini adventures.

Also, it took a month for someone to reply? yowza.

@ Mitch- I figured at the earliest, would be when they release the hardcover that the possible archetypes may become viable.

I like the idea of Sonya's Sword Devil archetype. seems weird on a ranger though.

There were definitely magic items in the earlier comics, because I remember asking here if there were a chance for PFS legality. There were only crickets in response.

Assuming you mean the archetype was included in the SRD, that's a non-Paizo site, so it's being included there doesn't mean anything with regards to how Paizo will treat it. I had wondered how so many people knew about it, though.

Wrong SRD.

That was my point.

There was a post by I believe (I'm too tired and/or lazy to go looking for it right now) Erik Mona in one of the Worldscape preview threads saying that the plan was to add the Worldscape content to the PRD here on the Paizo website.

I could see these targeted for charity boons (not necessarily the 'one and done' boons auctioned off at GenCon, but the ones they are releasing for conventions who are doing charity fundraising - there was a cool boon (hah!) recently at Carnage Royale that had some ulfen hookups that went in a raffle for the charity the PFS crowd was supporting; a veteran's services charity IIRC) rather than becoming open availability.

Maybe we can start a thread for suggestions for that kind of boon, and add this idea to the list we generate...

Ah. That makes more sense. It's not there now, so I figured it must have been up on the other one.

Having said that, even if this were PFS legal (which would be cool) proving that you owned the source would be problematic. Paizo doesn't sell watermarked PDFs of the comics, and I can't imagine the comic would hold up well if it's being brought to every game (let alone the wear and tear of referencing the archetype regularly).

Bag-and-board (with a photocopy of the text) would probably work fine. ^_^

Either a bag and board would protect the individual comic, or the hardcover of the series would both hold up. Of course, right now this discussion is merely academic.

Edit: Found the bit where they mention adding this stuff to the PRD. Turns out it was in the 10/19 blog post itself by Erik, not in a comment in the thread.

The name of Red Sonja's archetype hearkens back to her classic "She-Devil with a Sword" appellation, only with the numbers rubbed off a bit so that Pathfinder can use it independent of a formal Red Sonja license. We'll eventually add all of the non-proprietary rules in these Worldscape appendices to the PRD and to tools like Herolab, though it make take until the release of the final hardcover collection of all six issues early in 2017. Right now the best place to get these rules is in the Worldscape RPG appendices in each issue.

Glad to see Hero Lab support on the way. ^_^

By the way, if they start making things from the comics legal, then I definitely want Decorum Bands from Goblins #1.

Heh. I wrote those, too. Almost like I've been trying to put fun, interesting rules content in these comics from the very beginning! :)
