Redemption through worship

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I've toyed with this notion from time to time but I don't believe I've pitched it here so, here it goes;

Could people change the nature of a deity through worship? For instance, if a group of good aligned individuals sought to replace the worshippers of a malevolent deity, could their worship be a path to redeem said deity or is that more likely just to be a pitch by Sifkesh?

Liberty's Edge

Not in Golarion, no. Deities are discrete entities that don't need worship for, well, much of anything. It helps them out somewhat, but not in terms of raw power, and it certainly doesn't inherently change them.

That said...deities can certainly be redeemed (Nocticula might be headed in that direction, for example). But it's a matter of personal choice, not forced by their worshipers' behavior.

Now, a deity who really cares about their worshipers might be influenced by them the same way someone's friends can influence a person...but that seems a bit unlikely in most cases.
