Book of Fiends PFRPG?

Hello, I just skimmed through my new copy of "Curse of the Crimson Throne," and discovered that there's a book out there called "Book of Fiends," that it references. I noticed that it was created in 2004 for the 3.5 rules. Does there exist any kind of official pathfinder update to this product? If not, has anyone already altered the stats to fit?

CotCT was initially published under 3rd edition OGL. So in the de first 4 Adventure Path you will occsionaly find such references, or find monstrous that has not been switched to Pathfinderun rules.

You have 2 options:
- You get the "Book of Fiends" and do your own updates;
- you get the 3 "Book of the Damned" (campain setting) which seems to cover the same area, generally speaking.

Some 3rd party monsters are also in the bestiaries. I would check there also.

This is probably a reference to Sivit, the darksphinx that appears in Chapter 3 of CotCT. It's doesn't look like the darksphinx is statted up anywhere else outside of Book of Fiends, which is unfortunate.

If, like me, you're planning to use HeroLab, you'll have to build this completely from scratch (or get it from someone else).

Since Book of Fiends appears to be OOP and there hasn't been a PF update from the original 3.5e, I kinda wonder why this didn't get updated and rolled into the bestiary in the back of the hardcover (space maybe?).

Well...Green Ronin may still come out with a update. Advanced Bestiary was from the same folks and I think that was only updated a year or so ago to Pathfinder rules.

I'm not to sure they will. They did a kickstarter for the Book of the Righteousness for 5E. Yet so far none for PF. When to me it seems a no brainer to do one first for PF then for 5E. As PF has been on the market longer.

But PF has a lot of material already available while 5th edition is much more material-starved due to limited releases.

True. Yet I would have at least made the PF version a stretch goal. Green Ronin Book of Fiends and BOR were some of the better third edtion releases. Limiting them (for now) only to 5E is a mistake imo.

There is no official Pathfinder conversion or update for The Book of Fiends, though some monsters from it have appeared in official Pathfinder products: the nyogoth and shoggti qlippoths in Bestiary 2 and the schir demon in Bestiary 3. (There is also an incubus in Bestiary 3, but it has a number of differences from the Book of Fiends version.)

In addition, I have unofficially converted the skulldugger in this installment of my blog, but haven't tackled any of the other fiends in that book yet.

Green Ronin is currently working on a Freeport Bestiary for Pathfinder, due out this spring, but have not said much except that it will update Creatures of Freeport and other setting-specific monsters. Several creatures from The Book of Fiends have appeared in past Freeport adventures (particularly Hell in Freeport and Shadows in Freeport), so it seems likely that a few of them could make it into this new bestiary.

Time to commit thread necromancy so that I can update my own comment.

Since my last post here, I've helped do some editing work on the Freeport Bestiary, which is now out in PDF (with the print version coming soon). This book does not update any BoF material; it mainly focuses on updating Creatures of Freeport and offering brand-new monsters. (Still an awesome book, just not what you're looking for here.)

And by an odd coincidence, the new edition of Blue Rose just came out. That setting, now for the AGE system, uses the same 7 Exarches described in the Hordes of Gehenna chapter of BoF. But same as in the True20 original, the new book only includes a handful of darkfiends rather than the dozens of daemons in BoF. Someday, if I ever have the time to play BR enough to feel up to the task, I may try converting the Gehenna material to AGE.
