Adventure path advice

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So i have been wanting to start up a new game, only having done two games (Rise of the Runelords and a short mini game) i dont know all the ones that there are. i dont have the time to make a wholly homebrew adventure, though i wish i did, so i would want something that has 'checkpoints' or something, but overall have it be mainly a sandbox world. Is there anything like that?

Kingmaker AP might be the way to go.

i thought of kingmaker, and i may, but i wanted something more of the classic D&D-ey type of game.

You might have to be a bit more descriptive then D&D-ey style game as that covers a lot of ground since they have been around for so long.

ie give D&D module number's, names or campaign situations you prefer. ie town adventure, dungeon delve, over-land trek, bug-hunt, giant hunt, para-normal.

Most published adventures are not Sandbox game, but you might want to look into Rappan Athuk. It is mostly a dungeon crawl, but it is also very difficult, and you could run into things you can't defeat in combat because you don't have a linear path, like most written adventures.

Liberty's Edge

Skull and shackles, a little bit. Though it's easy for the PCs to depart the adventure path entirely.

The newly updated to pathfinder Curse of the Crimson Throne Hardcover might be what you want, it's fairly sandboxey.

King Maker I found to be very classic D&D stronghold building with some good dungeon crawls and exploration. Reminded me very much of the games I played back in the AD&D and 2nd Edition days. That held for the first 3 or books but back in the older editions you could go as high of level unless you were a Human and no ever played a human as there benefit didn't come in till high levels and high level games just didn't happen much.

Giant Slayer, perhaps? I passed on it because it seemed rather vanilla and didn't seem like it had a very strong story, but those elements may be exactly what TC needs. It looked like it was going to be a bunch of dungeon crawling to kill giant-boss-of-the-week, which is perfect for a sandbox adventure.

But those are just my impressions from reading the descriptions, I don't know how accurate that is.
