combat spells

Advice

Which spells do you normally have/want up on your character when you go exploring? aka 10 minute per level or longer spells.
And which spells do you feel are worth casting in combat?

My standards are barkskin, heroism, mage armor if applicable
combat spells are haste and fly.

I'm curious what peoples long term buff spells are and which spells they feel are worth casting in combat.

Heightened Awareness is a great 1st level buff. Especially for exploring.

Decinding to cast a buff in combat often comes down to positioning. If I have to charge and get a single attack thus giving the enemy a a full attack I often buff. This lets them come to me and get a single attack and I get the better full round. That said here are some long term buffs and in battle buff I like.

  • Air Walk and See invis are up a lot not as much as the others you have posted. Heighten awareness is up as much as possible. Defending bone, and Shield companion on several characters.

  • Resist Energy when obvious. Dragons right!

  • Resinous Skin on my animal companions and my melee druid.

  • Bone fist on occasion. Party with a monk, druid and 2 animal companions it becomes pertty good for low levels.

  • Longstrider all the time.

  • Feather step in long stretches of bad terrain.

  • Quicken Divine Favour + Righteous Might on my battle oracle.

  • Good Hope when every someone not my skald casts haste or contagous zeal when conserving spells.

  • Most characters that can cast it have a wand of expeditions retreat in a spring loaded wrist sheath. It is often better to cast that and move then to double move on large maps or with difficult terrain.

like you listed mage armor can be really handy depending on your class barkskin can be really good to sadly most of the buffs i know are 1min/level as they are the spells used on my by my groups pajama casters before i go crack enemy skulls together as for combat buffs enlarge/shrink person depending on your playstyle are great shield works good if you can find a way for an alli to cast in on you or you can cast it yourself long arm gives you some nice reach and works really good with enlarge person especially on an aberent bloodline bloodrager with a greatsword you get 20 foot reach
