Crafting Mathmatics

Rules Questions

This is my first crafter and the reason is simple, I think it takes to long to craft. I need to know if my GM is doing it right.

Example = Alchemist fire DC is 20 is worth 20gp (200sp) COST = 67 sp to make
Roll (Craft Check) 25 x 20 (DC) = 500
Result is 1 Alchemist Fire in 3 days.
OR
Roll (25 x 20) / 7 = 71.5 sp per day.
Result is 1 Alchemist Fire in 3 days.
Swift Alchemy(SA) = is half the time.

The question is Do I need to match the value of 200 sp or 67 sp.

This is a huge difference especially because I have been trying to make poison for ever, and I still have never produced one dose of poison. To me I should be making it at cost not at sale price.

I need a person from Paizo to answer me so I can change rule in game.

Crafting always looks at sale price to determine time spent. Your math is right; if you get a 25 on your craft check, it takes 3 days to make an alchemist's fire.

You're right; it takes too long to make more expensive items. Take a look at the Unchained crafting rules and see if they're more to your liking.

There's two ways around this issue: spells or downtime.

I'm assuming you're already using Crafter's Fortune to boost your Craft check. However, for the low cost of being a 9th level Wizard, the Fabricate spell allows you to complete an item instantly so long as you can meet the item's DC. This means Wizards (or the odd Sorcerer that selects this spell) are the world's fastest blacksmiths, armorers and alchemists.

Otherwise, it's assumed you'll spend your time between adventures performing crafting whilst other characters make magical items, gather information, build strongholds and so on.

Or you can just buy the stuff you want at a shop for the standard price.

Master Alchemist

You obviously need this. 10xcrafting Speed, 10xINT-Mod.xCrafting Speed for poisons.
