is it possible to start a companion subscription now but not get the issues that come as part of my base pathfinder subscription?

If you mean not get a second when you get the free one, than yes, that is how the subscription automatically works, they will not send 2 of the same thing unless you order one individually separately (and then only if you order it after you are already a subscriber to that line) and the lower price wins, so you still get the free ones for free

awesome,
so if I subscribe right now I won't get second darkness because I allready got it with my pathfinder subscription?

When you subscribe, you can choose to start your subscription with the previous volume or the next volume. If you already have the Second Darkness Player's Guide, you can select Elves of Golarion as the first Companion.

An authorization will go through at the time you create your subscription, but nothing ever gets charged until it is shipped.

Thanks,

If an authorization expires before we ship your order, we must re-authorize the card before we can settle the charge. Since the average order on paizo.com takes anywhere from 3 to 11 business days to fulfill, some orders will be necessarily be authorized twice. This is especially true for preorders and backorders.

Heya, don't mean to come across mean or anything, but I thought you guys might want to fix the grammar going on there.

Amusing anecdote (and proof that I was the one who wrote that bit in the first place):

I read that three times before I noticed what it was that you were pointing out. I knew what it is supposed to say and my brain simply overlooked anything that wasn't that.
