Freedom of movement and manicles?

Hey was wondering if a character was trapped in manacles and someone cast freedom of movement on the person would they be free?

Boy, the spell sure seems all encompassing, but doesn't outright say it.

It's a 4th level spell, and it defeats a lot of things. Manacles permit an Escape Artist check.

I'd rule the spell gets you out of the manacles.

Personally I'd say you get free and full use of your extremities for the duration of the spell... but the manacles stay on.
Exactly how that would work though, I'm not sure.

Yea raw the person in manicles could make an escape artist check and even if with a lock the dc is 100 you'd still auto succeed but yea idk

Freedom of Movement gives auto-success on "Escape Artist checks to escape a Grapple", not "all Escape Artist checks"

3.5 had epic uses of escape artist, where a DC 80 check would allow a medium creature to pas through a 2" wide hole. A DC 120 Escape Artist check would allow a character to pass through weak points in a wall of force...

Would the Freedom Of Movement spell allow players to do these epic feats???

My guess is no.
