Random World!

I tried this idea years ago, but then forgot about it. Basically, I create a random world with races, gods, places, people, artifacts, etc, using random tables. I will make use of random tables in random web sites, in the hopes that it will activate a part of my mind where creativity comes from. Literally, I am just making this up as I go along. I will posting it on here for two reasons. First, if I didn’t post it then I would end up throwing it away in several weeks or forgetting about it. Second, you guys will give me either cool advice or you will criticize it and point out my errors. Either way I win…lol.

Let’s start with a random god. First, we determine the gender.
1-male
2-female
3-other
Hey, I am a progressive world builder. The god could be transgender, or it could be a 2 or more gods that always act together. For example, the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. I was raised Catholic. I will use random.org for the numbers, and I get a 1-male. So it’s a guy.

Next, I will determine alignment.
1-Lawful Good
2-Neutral Good
3-Chaotic Good
4-Lawful Neutral
5-True Neutral
6-Chaotic Neutral
7-Lawful Evil
8-Neutral Evil
9-Chaotic Neutral
10-Unaligned
I get a 7-Lawful Evil. A bad guy.

Next, I determine the power level with examples:

1-Vestige (a dead god of water)
2-Quasi-god (fishermen)
3-Demigod (lakes)
4-Lesser God (rivers)
5-Intermediate God (seas)
6-Greater God (oceans)
7-Elder God (all water on world)
8-Primal God (creator of water)

It’s a primal god.

Now, as far as a name and details, let’s look up four random words. They are:
Accomplice-he was an accomplice to an unspeakable act on his home plane of existence or the world. He aligned himself with other evil gods.
Aftershock-after it was over, he felt the aftershocks of destroying his world.
Butcher-he was the Butcher of the World.
Degeneration-he literally led this world into a state of degeneration, the world was dying and falling apart, he was the butcher of life itself.

The Butcher literally is the embodiment of Lawful Evil. He is a tyrant, and he wants to impose his evil will on the world. He implores his followers to take over parts of the world and then butcher it, kill it, and of course he encourages cannibalism. His followers are truly depraved and evil, but they are also much disciplined about it. His church has a very rigid hierarchy. His actual name is unknown.

How about a Place? First we need to find out where it is? Imagine a big, blank piece of paper, which for now is the whole world. Below I randomly roll to pick a spot on this map:

1. Center
2. North
3. South
4. East
5. West
6. Northwest
7. Southwest
8. Northeast
9. Southeast
I roll a 6 and get the Northwest.

Now, is this a natural or political place? Yes, it can be both, but for starters I need to find out. So, I roll a 1-2 and I get a 1. It is a Natural Place.

Next, I need to determine the size. The chart is:
1. Small
2. Medium
3. Large
4. Giant
5. Massive
6. Vast
7. Titanic
I roll a 6 so it’s giant.

Then I use a random word generator and get a the following words: proof, rules, column, and trouble.
Proof-from this word I get the letter P for plains.
Rules-along ago these plains were a civilization called Rhuel, and it leaders were called Rhuelords Following some sort of cataclysm, Rhuel crumbled, it’s people turned barbaric, and they tore down their cities. Only ruins are left today.

Columns-these are the ruins left over. Columns from ancient buildings can be found.

Trouble-it takes many forms here. Wild, barbaric tribes. Mutated beasts. Ancient ruins filled with treasure, but also evil monsters. There are treasure hunters who will kill to protect their claims. Also, the ancient Rhuelords themselves, who are buried there, can be awakened and will seek vengeance. Lots of trouble there.

I like the idea.

1) what would a rigid cannibalistic hierarchy look like? Everyone lines up, and the cult elders get the choice bits while the initiated get toenails?

Also, Rhuelords sound suspiciously like Runelords, including the whole old culture destroyed with ruins, and lords who can be reawakened to cause trouble. I am sure there is another way you could go to distinguish what you are coming up with.

You are right about the "Rhuelords". I knew there was a reasons I posted on here. I wanted to use the word Ruler in some way, so I think I will just say the former domain of "Rhuel" was ruled by...Rulers. It doesn't have to be fancy, but I don't want it to be confused by you know who...lol

How about a random person? First, we need to determine gender so I roll a 1 and it’s a guy.

Second, I need to find an alignment, so I roll a 2 and he’s Neutral Good.

Third, I need a Race, so for this one I generate two random words, due to the large number of races. I roll lamp and bulb. I check the list and the closet pairing is a….I go with a Celestial. He kind of glows like a lamp and a bulb.

Fourth I need a name so I get two random words: Winter and Haven. How about I call him Win Aven? That sounds like a weird, extra planar name.
Fifth, I need a level, so I roll 1-50 and get a 23. Win is a 23rd level what?

Sixth, I roll for class, and there are so many possible classes, so I again 2 random words and I get basket and pants. Hmmmmm…okay, what I see (in my mind) is that he’s a cleric for a god called Bask. I looked up the meaning of the word bask and it means something like basking in the sunlight, warmth, goodness. So he’s a nice, Neutral Good god. Now, where do I put in pants? Look, I can say he wears pants, so it has something to do with those letters…it’s a stretch, but I’m using the letters T A N from pants to simply say this Celestial has a golden tan, based on his extra planar nature and his worship of a sunlight god.

So, Win Aven came from another plane to live on this world and worship the sunlight god Bask. He’s a nice guy, a 23rd level cleric, and very powerful. He carries a very powerful Sunstaff and that call for miracles directly from his god. Win fights evil passionately, but he also harbors a dark secret. The question is this: why did he originally come this world? Of his home plane he says little, only that it was beautiful. Notice he says “was”…

Also, my next entry will be for Bask, the god of warmth and sunlight…

Bask, Intermediate god of sunlight and warmth
Alignment: NG
Believer's Alignment: any non evil
Domains: Good, Sun, Light, Protection
Symbol: Golden sphere
Holy Weapon: mace

He is not the actual Elder God of the Sun, but one of his scions. He has a very popular church with open air temples all across the world. His clerics are easy to find, because they all have very good tans from repeated exposure to sunlight. Due to their faith, their skin is not damaged; they really do have a healthy tan.

All of their services are outside, in the sunlight, and their temples are without roofs. Yes, it becomes a slight problem when it rains, but the Priests of Bask do not mind.

Their god is an enemy of the darkness, undead, and any creatures who seek to keep the world in the dark. He knows that a time of great darkness is coming to the world, and he wants his believers to spread a message of hope throughout the lands.

Let's make another random place. First, where is it? I roll a 9 and it's in the Southeast. Next, is it a Natural or National? Get it? I roll a 2 and it's a nation of some kind. Next, how big? I roll a 4 and its Giant. Next, I need an alignment of the dominate government and I get a 5 for Neutral. Finally, I need some random words and I get the following:

astronomy-its a nation obsessed and ruled by Astronomers & Astrology. They have their own version of the Zodiac with 13 Star Signs based on a variety of creatures like Bears, Lions, Dragons, etc. On this world, knowing someone's sign really can tell you something important.

marine-it's by a sea or large lake and it's capital is a large, port city.

question-yes, what is the Question? Perhaps Questioners are a sort of class and they put someone to the question? Hmmmm...

page-what is the page? A book? A missing page from a book? Apparently that missing page is unbelievably significant.

A name for the place? Wow, this is difficult, and I didn't want to spend too much time on this one. Okay, I went to Thesaurus.com and I put in Zodiac, I got a lot of words, but I am picking the word "Corona" as the name of the nation and "Aureole" as the name of it's capital by the "Meridian Sea". Okay, done for now....

How about another god or goddess or other? I start with gender and I get a 2 for female. Next I roll for Alignment and get a 3 for Chaotic Good. Next I roll for power level and I get a demigoddess. Finally, four random words and they are:

fortune-teller: she is wealthy or she brings a fortune to her followers.

Corpse: she is dead, and she died over 400 years ago. In life she her legend grew as a freedom fighter, rebel, gambler and free spirit. She became a Quasi-Deity, because so many people loved her, but she never claimed to be a goddess. Then, she died after taking a bet over drinking deadly, Deathberry poison. One of her followers, a Necromancer, reanimated her dead body. When she came back to "undead" life, her legend grew until her godhood grew to demigoddess status. Her body looks normal enough (she does not look like a zombie) but on closer inspection you can tell she is exactly normal. She uses magic (and makeup) to make her body look as normal as possible. She appears as an attractive, athletic human woman with long, brown hair (typically in a pony tail) and she wears thieving clothes.

She resists it her godhood, and tells her followers not to worship her. However, they simply think she is testing their faith and they worship her even more.

Sword: she carries a short sword and her clerics carry one as their holy weapon.

frequent: she is frequently on the world. She choses not to live among the Planes with other gods. Only on rare occasions will she leave her home plane

Her name in mortal life was Lydia Goldstone, but now she is called the Lady of Luck or simply Lydia.

How about a random artifact? I will start with it's alignment. I roll a 9 and get Chaotic Neutral. This should be wild. Next, I need to find out it's size. I roll a 2 so it's medium sized but what? I roll for a random word, and I get a "ear". OMG, it's a medium sized ear? Whose ear? I'm going to need more information, so I roll another random word and get "camera". I need to reword this so I come up with a new word...I drop the c and get Amerac. Hmmmm, the "Ear of Amerac"? I am going with it...

It's the Ear of Amerac, and it's a medium sized ear, but it fits over most Human ears because he was a half-giant. It allows someone to listen...to...anything. Amerac was a very powerful mortal, who sought godly power and he went very mad. He began to use a combination of Arcane and Divine magic to destroy anyone and anything he came into contact with. In order to save the various lands from destruction, gods both good and evil came down to the world and joined forces to cast many spells and miracles against Amerac. After days of battle his body was utterly destroyed...except for his left ear.

It allows anyone who uses it (by placing it on your left ear) to hear voices from miles away, and it allows them to use various spells and miracles involving hearing freely as if they were a caster of the same level.

HOWEVER, continued use of the Ear of Amerac will drive it's user quite mad. You will begin to hear voices all the time, and you will feel compelled to use the ear. Eventually you will hear Amerac's voice, because his spirit still lingers with his ear.

A new random table, how long ago did Amerac go mad and try to destroy the world? Here it is:
1. -25 years
2. -50
3. -100
4. -200
5. -400
6. -800
7. -1,600
8. -3,200
9. -6,400
10. -12,800

Okay I roll a...1. It happened 25 years ago? At first I thought this was an ancient artifact, but this event occurred not to long ago. That changes a lot. It would have a major impact on current events. You see, it's all over an ear...

How about a new place? I roll whether it's Natural or National. I roll a 1 it's Natural. Next I roll to see where is it? I roll a 2 so it's in the North. Next I roll to how big it is. I roll a 3, so it's large. Finally, I generate 4 random words and they are:

scar-it's a large canyon in the north shaped like a jagged scar.

Aluminum-yes, there are deposits of precious metals in the Scar like gold, silver, copper, and aluminum. It brings miners there who soon die after being killed...

buzz-when explorers enter the Scar they hear a buzzing sound. That sound increases the deeper they go into the canyon until...

show-at the very end, explorers of the Scar find out they have become part of the Show. The creatures within love to put their potential meals on a show with dancing, singing, drama, and finally they are the dinner...

How about a random, significant, historical event? In order for it to be significant, it has to have an effect that is felt all across the world...or maybe all across a big continent, I am really not sure yet. Okay, first how long ago did it happen? I roll and I get a 2 so this happen 50 years ago. Second, what happened? I roll four random words and get:

sand-a vast sand storm swept across the world 50 years ago. The storm came from a far off desert. The sand storm lasted for several days.

lonesome-not sure, but it's from a "lonesome" desert, and a lone person caused it.

Pharaoh-yes, it was a Pharaoh who did it. Long ago a pharaoh from an Egytian type kingdom was buried permaturely by his wife and others who he trusted. He swore vengeance as he was muffied and buried in a large pyramid. His kingdom fell, and was buried in the mists of time. However, he was able to return from...

Fringe-it was the Fringe, which is a barrier between the world we know and the Other World. The Pharaoh's cursed spirit dwelt on the Fringe until he could return fully into our world. He unleased his fury, a sandstorm, that everyone felt. There are rumors that a brave band of adventurers traveled to the lonesome desert and stopped him.

Okay that's it for now. It reminded me of the Mummy movies, the ones with that Fraser guy...

How about another historical event? I make a new roll with a table that I added #11-25,600 years and I get a 3, -100 years ago. I generated four random words and get:

water- this event involves water, so I'm going to say a huge flood that submerged most of the cities on the eastern coastline of a major continent. Think of a Europe or American/fantasy type continent...lots of rain too.

spring-it happened on the first day of Spring 100 years ago.

cabbage-I'm thinking food, but the Flood wiped out a lot of crops and livestock, so there was a famine...and a good god decided to allow a food similar to cabbage to grow all across the world to feed the hungry.

impulse- the Flood was an impulsive act by...who? An angry, godlike being? Someone deep under an ocean caused an earthquake and triggered an oceanic flood.

fury-however did this was angry and it caused a fury...also, this flood could involve the Furies (from Bing, "The Furies were the three goddesses of vengeance: Tisiphone (avenger of murder), Megaera (the jealous) and Alecto (constant anger). They were also called the Daughters of the Night, but were actually the daughters of Uranus and Gaea. Another name for them is the Erinyes."

Not sure if there are the same Greek Furies, but they could be.

I almost have enough to make a timeline...lol

Hey, I am on a role here, so let's continue. I roll for another historical/significant event. I roll an 8, and it took place -3,200 years ago, and I generate 5 random words:

consider-please consider the following story, or I take the world apart "con sid er" to "out si der". The Outsider arrived onto the world.

pocket-it came from a pocket dimension, which was his prison. Powers from the Dawn of Time put him there for unspeakable crimes. The Outsider is definitely a dark, primal god, and he is most certainly Chaotic Evil, and he is "friends" with the primal, Lawful Evil god the Butcher.

whip-the Outsider carried a whip and he struck the world. It created a deep scar that bleed like a festering wound...

bump-the Outsider used his dark powers to create a volcano, and it grew like a bump like a bump on the surface of the world. It grew until it exploded...

powder-it fell onto the world and the people body's were covered with volcanic ash/powder

The Outsider nearly destroyed the world until an alliance of heroes, villains, and gods banded together to banish him from the world. Of course, his presence remained. The Scar he created is the same as the one mentioned above.

How about another place? Yes? I force roll a 2, so it's a National place. I roll a 4 so Location is East. For size I roll a 4 so it's giant. For alignment I roll a 1 for a Lawful Good government. Now for 5 words and they are:

hypnotic-Hypnotism is a 1st level Bard spell, and wizard/sorcerer, but I am seeing an island of song, sirens, and enchantment.

thirsty-fresh water is scarce there, so water will have to be rationed.

island-its a giant island in the east. I'm seeing it off the coast of a great continent.

coach-this land as a ruler, like a head coach, but he is called the King (or another word that means a singing king). His rule is firm, but just. Its very much like King Arthur's Camelot, but the musical version. The King is a very powerful Bard

pack-think of packs like clubs or clans or bands of bards. You are judged by your pack.

Historical Note: the great Flood happened -100 years ago, and this giant island is in the East along the eastern shore. I wrote that something or someone caused the flood. I wonder how did the Isle of Song fare during this calamity?

I'm liking the name Aria for the island, and the name Apero (Opera) for the musical capital. It's like D&D the Musical.

Thank you Legoguy4492, and for your contribution I am going to use your name as a Random type thing. The words are Lego Guy and the numbers are 4,4,9,2...let's see.

Lego Guy-he is a construct, like a golem, put together by random pieces of a child's game. He looks really weird.

Age: I use a 4, so he was constructed 200 years ago.

Location: I use a 4, so he was originally constructed from somewhere in the East.

Size: I use a 2 for Medium sized...let's use a Human type.

Level: 9, but what? I am jumping to a conclusion here, but I will say a Monk. So he's from the Far East, and he knows this world's version of Kung Fu.

Lego Guy is a construct of various pieces of a puzzle, who somehow was trained in the martial arts, and now he wanders the world on a quest to a) find his creator and b) help people along the way because that is cool. I will say he is Lawful Good.

Now for a name? It has got to be a cool, Asian type, Monk name, so let's rearrange Lego Guy to.... Yu Ge-Gol. To his friends he is Yu.

Thanks for the contribution!!!!

Another place?
Location: I rolled a 9 and its the Southeast.
Is it Natural or National? I force roll a 2 so National.
Alignment: I roll a 7 so it's a LE government.
Size: I roll a 2 it's medium.

Now, the five random words to see what it's all about:

powerful-its a powerful, what it is. I am seeing this medium sized place being aligned with evil primal god The Butcher.

fierce-yes, it's fierce, but I am seeing a Fortress, so how about calling it Fort Fierce? I'm going with it, and around the fortress is a medium sized town.

introduce-I need to introduce someone or something new, so how about a new Lawful Evil god? Its a god under The Butcher of Worlds, so let's do it now...the rolls reveal a LE female, lesser goddess and the words are: linen, evanescent, defective, and blue. I'll work on it...

exciting-yes, it's exciting, but they are excited because a war is about to begin...

gruesome-did I mention before that The Butcher's church is called the Brethren, and they believe in cannibalism? Yeah, that is happening here.

Okay, this is supposed to be quick so I'm going to go now to work on this LE lesser goddess...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

As promised above here I introduce Drea:

Its a god under The Butcher of Worlds, so let's do it now...the rolls reveal a LE female, lesser goddess and the words are:
linen-lady, clothes, washing clothes, her name, no she wears a black, hooded cloak that reveals only hr glowing, red eyes and blue skin.

evanescent- it means “soon passing out of sight, memory, or existence; quickly fading or disappearing”, she is the goddess of evanescence and decay

defective-she is defective, or she causes stuff to be defective? Her right leg is lame, and she must carry a cane to walk around it. She suffered an injury aeons ago that changed her.

blue-she has blue skin

I add another word and get “dream”. Prior to some incident she was like a dream, and she was beautiful, happy, and good. Then she changed into a nightmare. She dropped the “m” and became “Drea".

In service to the primal evil god The Butcher, Dera is more plain, but just as evil. In Fort Fierce, there is a shrine devoted to her, but it is within a massive temple to The Butcher. Her followers want to bring decay to the world and pave the way for the dark one.

Allow me to add to the years chart, and I'm going to add another significant, historical event.

1. -25 years
2. -50
3. -100
4. -200
5. -400
6. -800
7. -1,600
8. -3,200
9. -6,400
10. -12,800
11. -25,600

I roll a 5 and so it's -400 years ago. This was around the same time Lydia died and was reanimated.

Now what happened? I generate 5 words and they are:

dinner-obviously food, maybe a major famine swept across the Lands? An evil dark demon god of famine shifted reality to make food sources scarce.

temper-the lack of food led to bad tempers and wars over food. It was brutal and bloody.

statement-a statement against the bloodshed over the famine was written by a good god and sent out among the lands that food was coming.

pastoral-the pastors of the god of peace went out across the lands bringing food or Manna from the Heavens to feed the hungry. In time the wars ended...

vein-this goes along with bloodshed...

Notes: I need to make a god of peace and a demon/god/powerful being of famine. This conflicts with Lydia's rebirth or does it? Its time for a timeline...

TIMELINE

0-Present (I’m waiting for the perfect starting point. Maybe it will be -3,200 years ago I don’t know).

-25 years: the mad half-giant Amerac, and powerful WizardPriest, tries to destroy all of the Lands. An alliance of both light and dark gods battle him and destroy him. However, his left ear survived. The Ear of Amerac is hidden somewhere and it gives anyone who finds it great powers of hearing, but it also drives him or her insane.

-50: a sandstorm from the far east by a mummy Pharaoh spreads across the world. His evil spirit was trapped in the Fringe for thousands of years.

-100: a great flood submerges the eastern coastline of the great continent.

-400: Lydis Goldstone, a Quasi-God, dies from Deathberry poisoning. A necromancer friend reanimates her body and she becomes the demigoddess of luck and fortune.

-500: a great famine caused by an evil demon god led to hunger wars. They were stopped by the god of peace, who sent out his pastors who brought manna from heaven to feed the hungry.

-3,200: The Outsider, a primal CE god, is released from his prison in a pocket dimension. With his whip he creates the Scar and causes vast damage all across the world until he is banished from the world, and put back into his prison.

I decided to add 100 years to make the great famine occur 100 years before Lydia was reanimated.

PLACES (so far)

Aria: in the East is a giant island, and it’s capital is called Apero, and it is a Lawful Good kingdom. Over time music became all important, and everyone has 1-2 Bard levels. Everyone sings. The King himself is a high level bard who always sings. Think of it as the musical Camelot, but it doesn’t ever stop…

Corona: it’s a giant, Neutral nation in the Southeast, its’s capital is called Aureole, and it is a big port city by the Meridian Sea. They are ruled by astrologers who study the 13 star signs, which are constellations, and they can use their knowledge to tell a person’s destiny. They use a 13 month calendar, which has become the most commonly used one in the known lands. Its based on Earth’s original, 13 sign Zodiac.

Fort Fierce: it is in the Southeast, it is a medium sized fortress with a medium sized city around it, and their government is Lawful Evil. They are ruled by a Commander who worships the Butcher, and he hopes his army will be able to lead the future war.

Plains of Rhuel: it’s in the Northwest, and it’s a giant plain that used to be a rulership called Rhuel. Rhuel fell 500 years ago during the Great Famine, and it’s people where driven mad. Today its populated by the descendants of the Rhulians, who have become nomadic hunter-gatherers. Adventurers try to explore this region, but most of them never return.

The Scar: it’s in the North, and it is a large, jagged canyon created 3,200 years ago when the primal, CE god the Outsider was released from his prison. He used a whip to create a wound in the world, which bled, and he caused worldwide destruction. Only an alliance of light and dark gods was able to stop the Outsider and put him back into his prison, which is located in a pocket dimension.

The Far East: technically, there is the place where that Pharaoh created that sandstorm, which is an Egyptian like desert location. Also, Yu (the 9th level Monk Construct) is from a Far East place where everyone has 1-2 Monk levels.

There will be more Places later. I'm watching Stranger Things...

I need a few more Places...

How about a new God?
Gender #3-Other

Alignment #8-Neutral Evil

Power #5-Intermediate

Random Words:
shake-I'm seeing a name here, Shakar.

ruin-Shakar is the god of ruin.

spot-on the spot? He has a spot on his face, a scar from long ago.

lacking-he/she is lacking male and female organs. Skakar would be considered neither.

busy- Skakar has been extremely busy lately helping to bring people, and the world, to ruin.

Shakar is aligning with The Butcher in the upcoming war, because it would bring the world to ruin, but he/she fears what would happen afterwards. Shakar knows that he has taken over many other worlds in the Cosmos, and those worlds have only one god to worship.

THE GODS (so far)

Astra is an Unaligned, Primal Goddess of the Stars. She first existed after the Creator of All Things said, “Let there be Lights!”. One of her children is Ralos.

Bask is a Neutral Good, Intermediate God of sunlight and warmth. He is one of the children of the sun god.

The Butcher is a Lawful Evil, Primal God who has taken over many worlds. He sees this world as his next acquisition. He is called the Butcher because he calls on his worshippers, who are called the Brethren, to take over and butcher their worlds. Once most of the world has been slain, those that remain will worship only him.

Drea is a Lawful Evil, Lesser God of evanescence and decay. In service to the primal evil god The Butcher, Dera is more plain, but just as evil. In Fort Fierce, there is a shrine devoted to her, but it is within a massive temple to The Butcher. Her followers want to bring decay to the world and pave the way for the dark one. Her right leg is lame, and she must carry a cane to walk around it. She suffered an injury aeons ago that changed her. Prior to that incident she was named Dream, and she was beautiful, happy, and good. Then she changed into a nightmare. She dropped the “m” and became “Drea". She has blue skin and glowing, red eyes.

The Furies are unknown deities. They caused the Great Flood 100 years ago. They may be related to the three gods of vengeance from Greek myths. To recap, "The Furies were the three goddesses of vengeance: Tisiphone (avenger of murder), Megaera (the jealous) and Alecto (constant anger). They were also called the Daughters of the Night, but were actually the daughters of Uranus and Gaea. Another name for them is the Erinyes."

Lydia is a Chaotic Good demigoddess of luck and fortune. She was human, but her legendary status caused many to worship her and she turned into a Quasi-Goddess. After she died drinking Deathberry wine, one of her followers reanimated her body. When she rose from the dead, her fame increased and she later became a demigoddess. Unlike other gods she chooses to remain on the world in her original body, because she doesn’t want to be a goddess. However, she will answer prayers and help those in need.

The Outsider is the Chaotic Evil, Primal God of Destruction. He originally came from outside the Cosmos. He was imprisoned in a pocket plane by the other gods. The Outsider escaped 3,200 years ago and nearly destroyed the world. A rare alliance of Light and Dark Gods banished him back into his prison. He created The Scar and left a part of his essence there.

Ralos is the Neutral, Elder God of the Sun. His mother is Astra. He seems to be mainly indifferent to the world and his children. Of special note is that the word “Sun” means the same thing as “Son”. His title is the Son of Astra, which is where the word Sun came from.
Shakar is the Neutral Evil, Intermediate God of Ruin. He/she is without gender. Shakar wants to bring the world and everyone in it to ruin. He/she is an ally of the Butcher, but he fears what will happen after the end of the war.

The Fringe: I note this here, because it's a place between life and death were ghosts, spirits, and others dwell. I don't have knowledge currently on where the gods actually live, but they could be in the Fringe. There are concepts of the Heavens, the Havens, and the Hells as places where the souls of the dead might go after their bodies die. Then there are places outside of the Cosmos, like wherever the Outsider came from.

THE GAOL
A random place!

Location: 6 Northwest
Alignment: 7 Lawful Evil
Size: 6 Massive

1. Small
2. Medium
3. Large
4. Extra Large
5. Giant
6. Massive
7. Vast
8. Titanic

Five random words:
jail-its a massive jail/prison for the worse criminals and innocent people wrongfully convicted.

sore-prisoners are sore from working 24 hours a day and frequent beatings.

squeamish-the living conditions are horrific

squalid-yes the prison cells are squalid

part-this prison is just part of a larger structure underground.

The whole Lawful Evil thing with The Butcher fits in nicely with this prison. It needs an evil sounding, foreboding name, so I will...used the thesaurus and go the word gaol...

The Gaol is truly massive, and it's the size of a large city. Prisoners from across the known world are sent there. A LE god (yes another one) is the god of punishment and he is very much like the Devil. This is just a part of a larger place, a pathway to another dimension where souls are punished for all time.

I like the idea.

In honor of your contribution, I am creating a character in your honor and his name will be John Kerpan. Lets make some rolls!

Alignment: 6 Chaotic Neutral
Level: 21
Race: random word: skin, so I pick a Skinwalker. He can turn into a winter wolf like creature, and he is from the North.
Class: random word is deceive, he is a Deceiver...so I pick the...Deceiver class? I don't want to limit myself, but I am creating a new class here. It would fit in perfectly to his CN alignment and his Skinwalker race. He deceives people about who he really is. I am thinking a Deceiver is similar to a con man, so it mixes the Rogue and Bard classes.

As for his name, John Kerpan was raised Human in a northern city. His adoptive family were common farmers, and he as all set for a normal life...until he started changing into a white wolf when he got stressed out. From that point on, let's say age 13, he has been on his own. It would have forced him to steal to survive, and also Deceive people. It would be an evil thing, but with his CN alignment he really doesn't care who he deceives and at 21st level he is really good at it.

Okay, that went in a completely different direction than what I expected and that's good...

ABETTOR ISLAND

I drew a map and found not enough places, so I need to come up with a few more.
Location 5 West
Alignment 9 chaotic neutral
Size 2 medium

Five random words:
pickle: I'm thinking food, vegetables, something that grows...

turkey: there are turkeys there, wingless birds, maybe giant ones...

addicted: in this place there are a lot of people addicted to some drug, maybe the pickles?

complete: this place or failure is complete...

float: this place floats...

Its a medium sized floating island in an inland, western sea. Its not pickles that grow there, but some sort of plant that is highly addictive called abettors. The turkeys are wingless birds that live on the island, so I am naming them Urkeys.
Urkeys are very large, wingless birds that live on the island and they are addicted to the abettor plants.

The people who live there are farmers and ranchers, and when not working they live a wild existence. There is no organized government there. Everyone makes up their own rules. They survive on trade, because abettor plants and urkeys are very popular food items.

By the way, Abettor Island floats, because it's not a natural island; it's actually a very large, living being that has been sleeping and an island grew on it's back, and the island is in the Urkey Sea.

Note: The Gaol prison was once a part of Rhuel, and it was where the Rulers put their prisoners. When Rhuel fell 500 years ago, the Gaol remained untouched, and the warden of the prison is called a Ruler.

This is interesting. What're you going to do with the setting when you're finished?

A new god named Dity.

Gender: roll 3 Other
Alignment: roll 3 Chaotic Good
Power: 5 Intermediate
5 Random words:

photograph-pictures, the arts

log-like an actual tree log or a kind of journal, writing...

scorpion-Dity's symbol

priest-Dity's priests all wear white masks to protect their identities.

skateboard-not an actual skateboard but Dity rides on a flying board; its a stage.

The god Dity is actually two gods, male and female twins, who act as one. They wear white masks to hide their faces. Their names are Di (the girl) and Ty (the boy). They are the gods of the arts, such as painting, dance, and writing. Their spiritual services are theater performances. They believe that spreading the arts will benefit mankind. They want to form an alliance against the Butcher and his Brethren.

Often times I will try to come up with something when I am not on here and I "think" about it. That doesn't work for me, because I think too much. It has to be random and relatively quick. Here we go!

Random Place!

Location: roll 6 Northwest

Natural or National: roll 2 National

Size: roll 7 Vast

AL: NG

Random words:
crawl-a dungeon crawl? Perhaps there is a large dungeon somewhere in this nation that is well known.

birthday-it's a NG place, how about a NG goddess of birth and life?

miss-a woman, a Ms. Something, a woman is in charge.

heavy-she is heavy for her age, height, and race, but that is okay. So am I.

train-not an actual Earth train, but a fantasy version of a train. It connects the whole nation and makes travel across the nation much faster than normal.

The name of the place lets use the letters of the 5 words:

Some consonants and vowels: Cabimeht...the Cabinet? Could be the name of their government. I'm going to the Thesaurus!

The name of the nation is Ardora and the name of it's capital is Vigorus.

I want to stop now before the spark goes away, but based on this I need to create some sort of goddess of life and birth. Ardora is a nation where women are in charge of most high offices, and it their main religion is based on a goddess. There are men there too. Okay now I have to go...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Here I add two quick deities based on the creation of Ardora:

Elan, the Elder God of Life, is True Neutral. He is Life itself, and he stated life on the world. He is pictured as an athletic, middle aged man of any race.

Angea, the Greater Goddess of Birth, is Neutral Good. She is the World Mother, and she loves all of her children. She is pictured as a curvy, human looking woman with curly, black hair and tan skin.

Okay that was really quick, I have a cold, got to go...

A natural place in the Southwest, its been on the map for awhile.
The desert dates back to a time before this land was settled by the Races of Men. An earlier, primordial race lived in this land. There are ruins scattered throughout the desert, and yes many adventurers have explored this land looking for treasure, but few have found anything. Most find death or a horrific mutation. There are primordial artifacts left behind by a race that had moved on when Men arrived. A few people have been able to use those artifacts and gain unimaginable power.

Its called the Primordial Desert...

I'm going to do some force rolls to come up with some history for this part of the world. When I roll up the location, it is turning into only a part of a much larger continent. I need some history here. Let's start far back:

1. -25 years
2. -50
3. -100
4. -200
5. -400
6. -800
7. -1,600
8. -3,200
9. -6,400
10. -12,800
11. -25,600

Force roll #11, -25,600 years ago, and I generate 5 random words:

real-what was real? During this time it was up to question. Reality itself was not...settled.

mug-a cup, a chalice, something men drank and fought for, they carried it with them and it was important.

grubby-the men were dirty, unkempt, probably from living outside in nomadic tribes

grab-someone grabbed or stole the cup/chalice, and it started a war

smile-when the war ended, the victors recovered the chalice, and they celebrated and obviously they smiled.

-25,600 years ago there was a war over a cup, but not just any cup. I am thinking of this world's version of the Cup of Christ, or the Holy Grail. When I think of the technology level of these people over 25,000 years ago, it is very primitive, but one of the tribes had a cup and this cup had magical/divine powers. My first thoughts are that whoever drank from the cup was cured of diseases and healed from injuries. Whoever owned that cup would be very, very powerful.

It later became known as the Divine Decanter, because it must have come from the gods according to those who used it.

The Decanter War primarily took place in the (rolled 6) Northwest, where it started.

Let's go down the next random historical event, I force roll a 10 for -12,800 years ago and the 5 random words are:

well-off: someone very wealthy, or a very wealthy people, nation...

seat: a throne, a seat of power, I am thinking of a king, maybe the first real king of this land, and he came from a wealthy family...

outstanding: he was outstanding, amazing, powerful, charismatic, and he looked and acted like a king...

fruit: I am thinking the fruit of the gods, he ate divine fruit and it gave him knowledge, health, and his family continued to eat from this fruit...

guard: the king's guards or guardians, he was guarded by an elite force that protected him from all threats real or imagined...

Where was this kingdom? I rolled 4 the East. Now, in the East is a kingdom called Aria, the musical place and they have a king, so is it the same place? I'm just not seeing a kingdom over 12,800 year old, but it doesn't have to be the same area. All right, what was it's name?

I use the Thesaurus and I get...words for gold...the first one of the kingdom name is Aurelian, so I name the kingdom Aurelia, and the capital Halcyon.

Now, I am not saying this Aurelia still exists today 12,800 years later, but it was the first real kingdom and other kingdoms and domains came from them. I do not want to write up a name of the royal family, first king, etc, not yet too tired, but this is all good...

Random Historical Event.

Force roll -6,400 years ago:

Five random words:

Degree-there was a high degree of anger? It started another major war

Chisel-I see a sculptor chiseling something, like reality? He or she chiseled away at the wall between our world and another until he or she broke open a crack.

Kitten-the god transported was catlike? Catfolk, Felines, arrived to this land from another,
Picnic-food, they ate stuff, people?

Taxi-transportation from above, beyond our plane of existence or another land

A large, flying transport (the size of a city) broke through a crack in the wall of reality and they were a cat-like race. They had exotic, space-age weapons that the people of this world viewed as magic. Initially the cat-people were very successful and they killed a lot of people, but they could not deal with magic and eventually their advanced technology broke down. After about 20 years most of them were dead, but a minority went to live in remote region.

They were called Malkin by the people here. Their giant ship was destroyed and the pieces taken away. Sages took the technology away to be studied. Some Malkin remained in the land and today they are viewed as a strange curiosity. A large group of them went to live in a jungle in the south. The sculptor god who chiseled away at the wall of reality is currently unknown by this writer.

The tear in reality where they broke through into the world was in the (roll location) Southwest., so probably in or near the Primordial Desert, which has a lot of issues...

Force roll about -3,200 years ago, give or take a century...

Five Random Words:

user experience-it was definitely an experience for users...

travel-The Traveler arrived from another plane of existence. He was a Primal being with near unlimited power.

skylight- he cause the light from the stars to go out. Terror spread out throughout the world. He was temporarily able to move the world into a pocket dimension; by his terms he literally put the world in the pocket of his coat.

wine-through the use of trickery, a god was able to get the Traveler to take the world out of his pocket, and then get him to shrink down to a smaller size to visit it. The Traveler really liked to drink wine, and he was tricked by another god into drinking too much of it. When he got really drunk he agreed to put the world back where he found it and leave.

souvenir- before he left he wanted a souvenir from his trip to this world, so he took a bottle of the finest Aurelian Wine, made from real gold.

The arrival of the Traveler, and the other primal being the Outsider, completely shook the world to it's literally core. The various gods and goddesses who called this world home realized just how powerless they were. It made them feel mortal.

Random historical event -1,600 years ago…
Five random words:

Quilt-also called the tapestry of life, it was changed by someone. A powerful being actually knits the quilt, I am seeing a blind, older woman...

Executive-someone in charge was assassinated…

Crown-the king was assassinated by a masked assassin…

Mask-the assassin wore a mask, and she was very powerful, and in fact was the avatar of a goddess…

Radio-the news of the king’s assassination was spread across the world by a fantasy type "radio"; a device that can send sound messages across great distances, perhaps it was technology left over from the Malkin.

Once the king was assassinated, it triggered a war that engulfed most of the continent. Each side blamed the other. The assassin killed the other king or queen.

Since this was just 1,600 years ago, the political effects are still felt today...kingdoms fell and rose.

I need to create a goddess of murder/assassination.

I need to create a primal being who knits a quilt or tapestry of fate or destiny. I am liking the word destiny, because it can also be a name,so this primal being is named Destiny. I want the name of the kingdoms and nations involved...

Random Historical Event -800 years ago.

5 random words:

gentle: safe, peace, good treatment

trot: some sort of run

strip: the Vegas strip, to strip of clothes

volleyball: a game of some sort involving a ball...

protective: there was a protective order, someone was protected...

The beginning of the Games. An athletic event that all of the domains are invited to participate in. All invited are protected. It involves running, a game with a ball, and originally the athletes competed in the nude, but in the present they strip down to their underclothes.

It takes place in a city named Talus, which is at the base of Mt. Empyreal, and it is called the Empyrean Games. It takes place every 5 years, and this year they are celebrating the 160th Empyrean Games. Once it was a small town, now Talus has become a major city in the (random roll #9) Southeast.

Random place rolled 9 in the Southeast
I'm going to say this is the nation that has the city of Talus, which is where they stage the Empyrean Games every 5 years.

NOW WHAT IS IT'S NAME??? Too loud...lol
5 Random words:

newspaper-this land has it's own fantasy version of a news paper.

ivy-is it the plant, or is it someone named Ivy?

cabbage-food, farming main way of feeding people

reform-this land's leader promises reforms after a crisis

stock market-this land had some sort of financial crisis, the former leaders kept borrowing money, I assume this land, and the others, have some sort of money system based on gold...remember first king of Aurelia -12,800 years ago?

Now to name it, we know it has a famous city Talus, at the base of Mt. Empyreal...I like the name Kallikus for whatever reason, and Talus is the capital now. :)

I am now going to fill in the map with force rolls for location. This one is also in the Southeast, and it borders Kallikus and Corona. I roll for a size and it's large. I roll for an alignment and it's Lawful Neutral. I then generate 5 random words to get:

mellon-it is this land's main food crop, so it's more fruity...

pin-something you pin on, like medals, this land is very militaristic so the military runs everything here, there is a law for everything. They have a Supreme Commander who runs everything and under him are generals, admirals, and many other ranks.

tears-yes, it's harsh and a lot of crying goes on sometimes, but it could also means "tears" as in a tear in the fabric of reality. That could be happening.

trailer-I am thinking of someone or something moving and they need a trailer or cart.

bargain-I am seeing that money is a big issues and haggling is an art form, they argument about the price of things.

Fort Fierce-it is on the western border, and technically they are not part of this land. However, they are allies. Even though they are Lawful Evil, the soldiers and residents of Fort Fierce are military and they follow the rules, and they are expected to be allies in the coming war.

The name of the place is Worrain, and the capital is called Fort Livan. We continue as quick as possible...

Random place we are working our way upwards, now its the East, and I roll to see the size and alignment: I rolled 9 for chaotic neutral and a 2 for medium. Wow. Next, 5 random words:

paw-paw prints, dogs, they are popular, numerous...

waltz-dancing is a big deal here...

lift- to lift up or an elevator, something that goes up...

magazine-a regular, monthly, paper report on something...

sand-this place is on the eastern shore on the beach...

I am seeing this place on the northern border of Worrain, which is a LN, militaristic land so its the absolute opposite of it.

Its a nation, but one without laws. Its weird, but this is a lawless land that is protected by a supremely, powerful, CN being. He or she would be able to protect this land from Worrain, Aria, and other places that want this land.
I am it Xarch, and it's named after this powerful being...the map gets more full and we keep going north!
