Witch Hex

Rules Questions

I've never played a witch before or really any spellcaster. Does Spell Focus work on a witch hex? Which school of magic are hexs considered if it does work?

Hexes are listed as supernatural(Su) abilities and so don't benefit from spell focus which only works on spells.

Hexes aren't considered any school of magic, so Spell Focus can't be applied to them. If you're trying to boost the DC of your hexes, here are the only options I know of:

-Headband of vast intellect
-Corset of dire witchcraft (1 hex only)
-Ability Focus feat (1 hex only; not legal in PFS; somewhat debatable even in a homegame, since it specifies "special attack" and not every hex would count as such)
-Accursed Hex feat (doesn't actually increase the save DC, but allows you to curse the same creature again so they're twice as likely to fail)

Two opportunities to fail is not twice-as-likely to fail. In generally, it's only about 15% more likely at the most. Roughly equivalent to having had a DC of +3 higher, but possibly requiring two rounds for the same effect to stick.

Also Hexing Runes from Dragonslayer's Handbook add a +1 to the DC of a hex.
