Ack! I just want to say that some secret goodgremlin actually bought me Ultimate Relationships, and I am so aflutter! I'm guessing whoever it was saw this thread, so I'll say, thank you! I can't wait to read it. <3

Whoever that anonymous person is deserves a precious compliment. However, because they didn't give me a name, I'm afraid the Ancient Laws of the Beautiful Kobolds decree that they must instead take an insult:
They are way too nice!

The Doomkitten wrote:
This... this has potential...

Doomkitten has a profile page that made me laugh, but avatars and profiles are lazy compliments, not precious compliments. That said, I am not convinced that she is telling us the truth when she claims that the Cuteness ability is only 1/day. That username is terrifyingly adorable, and so are a not insignificant percentage of her posts. I actually don't often run into Doomkitten on these forums, since we frequent different threads, but her game and roleplay ideas are really neat and evocative.

That said, there may be a darker side to this. Just running over her recent posts for a couple minutes, I have "plant-owl people" rattling around in my head, demanding to be made a thing in one of my stories. I'm suddenly tempted to buy Ultimate Intrigue, after months of steadfastly ignoring the book and everything associated with it. Doomkitten's powers of creativity and enthusiasm are dangerous, and I fear that prolonged exposure will lead to me developing a renewed interest in Doctor Who, and perhaps more besides.

Hey, Kryzbyn! Krays was one of my favorite characters in Avalon! He was weird and creepy and kinda nerdy, and he was really fun to have Vakkler interact with. I like how he's grown and changed as the game has gone on. Krays has a neat arc, and he added a really intriguing dimension to the roleplay. You're a great roleplayer, and improved the Avalon game a lot with your presence when I was there! Then I left and everything went downhill after that.

Chris Lambertz wrote:

Today is a pretty hard day in rubit-land. But, this thread made me smile—thanks for being awesome, KC :)

*Fans self* People, stop being nice to me! This is where gnomes come from!

Chris Lambertz is simultaneously a herald of dread and one of my favorite people on the forums. If she was an anthropomorphic representation of the concept of Death, she would be one of the cool Deaths who gives people sage wisdom and a chance to say goodbye to loved ones, not the creepy Swedish Death who impersonates ministers and cheats at chess. She also has the generosity and patience of Death a saint—putting aside the fact that any truly civilized forum probably would have kicked me off by now, the time she takes to help out Paizonians and keep the community civil and friendly goes beyond the job description.

This year, I forgot a PFS sheet at Paizocon, because I would forget my head if it weren't attached to that thing on my torso. I was going through this whole rigmarole of retrieving the information, and then Chris just f&!$ing bursts through the wall like the Kool-Aid Man (this really happened, it's true) and is all, "Hey, I got your sheet, I'll just mail it to you." And then she did! I stand by what I said that day—Lambertz is Lambest. She totally deserves the apology thread she has, since a lot of people need to give her apologies, but I'm glad that today, I get to give her a compliment instead.

Seriously, the Paizo mods are all awesome. This community wouldn't have survived its enormous upgrade in size without them. :)

Jiggy wrote:

Can I have one too?

Jiggy sometimes makes me trip up, because he has the same avatar as motteditor. They're both great at game design, both active in RPG Superstar—the confusion is understandable.

Jiggy is one of the most helpful posters in the field of rules discussions. He always sets out to be totally clear, totally fair, and makes some of the most comprehensive explanations I've ever read. He is, no joke, one of the posters I try quite hard to emulate. Even people who disagree with him (and I am sometimes among those people, even though on rules debates we almost always align) have to respect his efforts in building well-structured arguments. Jiggy doesn't just take part in arguments, he elevates arguments.

He's also really easy to write compliments for, because he's super prolific and I see tons and tons and tons of his posts. So thanks for that! ;D

Rei wrote:

I've had my first ever migraine for close to 12 hours now. A compliment would be much appreciated.

Oh no! I'm sorry it took so long, and I hope you feel better by now!

Rei can speak two languages, and that's pretty damn cool. I can't even really write one—my "e" key is broken, and it's driving me freaking crazy fixing all the errors. I can't speak to their Finnish, but their English is better than most native speakers (which, if they're a native English speaker, is not super surprising but still pretty good)!

They're also a four-star PFS GM, which is just really cool and admirable. I'd like to play in one of their games! PFS GMing can be really tricky and challenging, in a way normal GMing isn't, and I have a ton of respect for anybody who commits to either form. Good luck on hitting five!

Also, you have the same username as the dangerous magic-stealing catfolk rogue PC of a friend of mine. Just thought I'd let you know.

And now, now that I have you right where I want you...

You actually inspired this thread. Your "People I Want To Play With" thread made me think about how nice it was to be on a list. It was a great idea for a thread, and I figured, compliments make people happy, so I'm going to go give out some compliments. Thank you for giving me the idea! Your posts about game design, especially the C/MD, do a lot to counter basic fallacious ideas that we hear way too much of.

Also, as one of the forum's chief shitposters, this thread is way underrated.

It better've, because any job place would be lucky to have this mechanical poet. Their weird whalesong harpoon is one of those items that grew a little more on me every time I voted on it, and now it's one of my favorites from last season's RPG Superstar. Turn into an amalgamation between Dory the fish and Popeye! Hell yeah.

mechaPoet is also super woke—they're awesome at explaining challenging or controversial concepts on that front. If they have a tumblr, and I had a tumblr, theirs is the sort of tumblr I would want to follow.

mechaPoet wrote:

Because this is the best line ever and I cannot in good conscience steal it but I am going to link it to all my cool friends so they can appreciate it. mechaPoet is just super cool and funny, and I wish they posted more, because I would like to laugh more.

HOLY SHIT THEY LIVE IN OREGON! I never see fellow Oregonians on Paizo for some reason—at least not among the posters I see a lot of. Remind me to buy you a craft beer next time I'm visiting my sister. She's going to college up there.

I do now! I like the way you post. Your post on the subject of peg legs, for instance, brought a clever, outside-the-box solution to a convoluted problem. I think your summary of the philosophies of the tram problem, too, was quite concise and sensible. You post some neat ideas in the Homebrew subforum, too—I'm actually working right now on a system where martial classes get small numbers of spells, though it'll probably be based on 5E.

It was, actually.

Goddity is one of those posters who contributes a lot of cool ideas to threads. It's hard to think of specifics, because they do not post often enough, but here are some things from their Recent Posts that I love:

I would love to play in Goddity's campaign. It seems like a great way to run semi-sandbox.

Basically all these one-liners made me smile, but I particularly liked "Quick! Check the paladin alarm!"

All their halfling-related Norgorber conspiracies make me wish I could draw comics just based around them.

They really need to stop trying to sell me on Pants. It's starting to work.

Goddity has a cool perspective and uses it to share ideas that expand a conversation. They need to post more on my list threads!

Thanks for the compliments KC! That made my evening! :D

Hahaha! I get it! Because fish! Good one, Jokey. This guy...this guy.

Jokey, and his master, Ventnor, are two dangerously snarky people. I loved Ventnor's "Festivity Dragon", as well as his Discrepadaemons and Hoagie Golems. He is very clever and very witty, and we're lucky he wastes his life on these forums—not just because he contributes a lot of funny ideas, but because he'd probably take over the world otherwise. I mean, he's a red dragon. Things are dangerous.

Actually, I speak four languages! ;D And have dabbled in two more. My first language is Finnish, but I'm at a native-equivalent level in English, speak some French and rudimentary Swedish - both of which I read way better than I understand them when they're spoken - and I've dabbled in Spanish and Japanese.

Also I am flattered that I share a name with a catfolk. At least on these boards. Something has very recently changed on the PFS side of the boards and it's freaking me out a little.

My game #150 is today! Just need two more special runs, I think.

Man, I used to read Wellard's game! Holy crap, it feels like ages. Marak was always one of my favorites.

Anyways, while Set is one of the forum's veterans, he's also a skilled roleplayer and a really funny guy. He makes some truly awesome contributions to the Homebrew subforum. I'd love to play with him in a PbP sometime.

Despite being one of the most terrifying posters on the forums and a literal product of Cosmo's nightmares from that time he ate Paizo's entire shipment of Mexican food, IHIYC is hilarious, helpful, and very creative. It's incredibly rare that I see a post from him I don't like, and usually, when I do, it's because I just remembered that he's still in my closet.

Sorry, that wasn't a Randarak snub, just a mispost. Randarak is not a bad poster. In fact, I think they make a lot of very valuable contributions to the forums' rules discussions, and a lot of funny additions to the list threads. Especially mine!

Lunias is another one of those posters who doesn't post much, but I really like the way they think about running games. They produce lots of thoughtful and intriguing posts. I like the way they write.

Adam, I feel like I grew up here, too, and it means a lot to hear you say those nice words—you can't tell underneath my red scales, but I'm blushing like crazy. I'll be celebrating my twenty-first birthday in a few months, and I've spent nearly ten of those years on these forums. I was such a little shit when I started out! But I always looked up to you as a guy who made wickedly funny posts and contributed cool game design ideas.

Also, we actually did meet once! Sort of. Not really. By my standards. I attended one of your monster creation workshops quite a few years back. We were working on a sort of ooze that I to this day remember as the "gray fever", even though my name suggestion didn't stick. It was a ton of fun! You're a great speaker, and you drew everybody into the flow of the exercise. I hope to meet you next Paizocon—this year's Paizocon I didn't really meet anybody, and it was lonely. :(

Aside from Adam's charisma—c'mon, guys, this is the mantis we're talking about here. A canny hunter of bugs and possibly hummingbirds, this creature chose to morph into a form that doesn't get decapitated during reproduction, a proud and noble flumph from the stars. He's a brilliant game designer, a wonderful influence on both Paizo and its forums, and a great guy to have around if you ever need an otherworldly aberration who's on your side.

Oops! I think I just gave you too many compliments in one sitting. As per the ancient Kobold Law, I must now reference an old embarassing post from the depths of your posting history!

Adam Daigle wrote:

Wow that's really boring nevermind a stupid law. I'm sure Adam was right and his player was wrong, though. Always a fair bet when the mantis is involved.

I remember when Patrick Curtain was famous for having a ridiculous number of aliases. He still has a lot. He's always been one of my favorite roleplayers on the forums, and because of my respect for him, he was one of the key people who really made me realize I had to clean up my act.
