What are Sulis good at?

Silver Crusade

The new PFS season is called year of the stolen storm. I think it will involve the elemental planes.

I thought it would be a good idea to make a Suli character to play through this season.

What are suli's good at in terms of classes etc?

Do they make a good "face" character?

Thanks!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

They get a strength bonus, a charisma bonus, and a minor melee damage bonus. Anything which primarily attacks in melee & gets some use out of charisma, from bloodragers to mediums to paladins to ninjas sounds good. A charisma based caster would be nearly as good.

If you want a face, considering their int penalty you want at least 4 skill points/level base, preferably 6+ if you're going to dump int. Bards, ninjas, mesmerists.

Edit: some oracles may fall into the 'primarily attack in melee' category, especially lunar, nature or even lore mysteries which can take a revelation to sub cha for dex to AC, or battle mystery which is all about hitting things.

i have a Nagaji Bloodrager and that has been working well. Suli have the same attribute modifiers plus (as mentioned above) they have a method to add a little bit extra damage.

You will need a boon to run the Suli.

I have a suli Cavalier planned for an upcoming game, an that seems to work well. As others have said strength based face characters/charisma casters are their specialty.

As much 'meh' as cavaliers get, I love them as a class. This sounds like a blast to play, maybe with the ghost rider (Occult Adventures, the ectoplasmic-steed one) archetype and be a Herald of the Elements.

This is important enough to be quoted and repeated for visibility.

I'm sitting on 1 and 3/4 suli boons, figuring out what I want to build them as. Scaled Fist Unchained Monk? Eldritch Scion Magus? Feyspeaker Druid? Another Oracle? Paladin?

Hmm... That monk is really speaking to me, actually, now I've looked at the Suli FCB.

It looks like a good race for a Skald build. I personally prefer the Spell Warrior archetype over the default Skald, but you can have a lot of fun with all kinds of builds.

Maybe Oracle of Nature + Sohei Monk to wear mithral medium armor and use charisma for AC, while dropping FCB Elemental Assault flurry? An armored Monk with high charisma and low wisdom/dexterity is a pretty interesting concept.

Thank you everyone for your help.

I have all 4 elemental race boons ( Sylph, Ifrit, Undine and Oread) so I can make a Suli character in PFS.

In a home Reign of Winter game I have a Suli Bloodrager with the draconic bloodline that I am planning to get into the Dragon Disciple. I am having allot of fun with that character. I don't feel like duplicating that character in PFS at the moment.

I already have a 5th level and a 9th level paladin in PFS so I don't really want to make a 3rd paladin.

Earlier I tried working with my herolab to make a magus (eldritch scion) but I just didn't like the bloodlines class feature with the EC.

I kept trying to make the character both a social one (with diplomacy and sense motive) and one who had some knowledge skills. So that led me to a bard.

I remember reading how Sulis are often mediators in Thuvia. So I thought maybe a bard?

what do you all think?
Thanks

That's basically why I suggested Skald, because the skald can better take advantage of the strength bonus than bard

You could use the Oracle 1/ Sohei thing I mentioned with the Lore Mystery, and after picking up Sidestep Secret, use Extra Revelation to grab Lore Keeper (base all knowledge checks off of charisma). You can also pick up Focused Trance to totally crush any int-based check that you can prepare for with a +20.

On the combat side, you end up with a strength and charisma based "Monk" that has high "dex" AC with a mithral breastplate and Barkskin, and who can flurry a nodachi or reach weapon in two hands with a huge Elemental Assault bonus from FCB and Weapon Training.

Skald or Bard would both work well. If you plan to melee, I think Skald are better at melee, especially with their good Fort and Will saves.

I agree with you that the Eldritch Scion Magus doesn't work well.

Melkiador a Skald? that is an interesting suggestion. I'm going to start up my hero lab and fiddle around with a Skald.

Badbird Oracle/Sohei Monk? an interesting suggestion.

I think I need to focus my character and pick a couple of things I want him to do well.

its so easy to want to do everything...combatDiplomacy...knowledge.....spells....trapfinding.....wait I have a whole party right there :D

Bret1 yeah the eldritch scion looks good on the surface....I just don't like the blood line thing. It doesn't feel like it fits.

well I have plenty to investigate a bard a skald this oracle sohei :D

thank you
