Checking for general interest for a semi-PvP Spacestation13 inspired "campaign"

so, I'm really tired right now but I think it's given me the stupidity courage to check for interest for this idea I've been having for the past few days and refining with some friends.

For anyone not aware Space Station 13 is a game in which you and several crew mates are aboard Space Station 13 to mine plasma and sell it to the Evil Corporation, however something amiss is happening on the station.

what's amiss, who knows, maybe several people are trying to steal some stuff and escape the station or some people are changlings and are there to eat people AND steal stuff, or the AI believes oxygen is poisonous to humans and is trying to "save" everyone.

If you're not a traitor or a ling or a psycopathic clown, or a wizard, or etc, and are just there to gain a wage, you just try to do your job and stop the station from falling to pieces. Each person has a job to do on the station, even if they're a traitor

How the game would work is mostly actions would be handled via PM with a cycle happening once per (real life)day(or so, don't really know what schedule I'll end up running) to do various tasks for their job or just to relax, the discussion thread would be the who ever is in the bar can chat here thread, while gameplay would be me posting global events(such as a boom and shake rocking the station) and posting the intercomms.

If two people started a fight, they get 10 or so rounds of fighting before the next global round can happen and the traitor trying to steal the quarter master's brain might be discovered.

If you die in a "shift" that is the time in which the traitors or what ever can do their tasks, depending on the round you'll, if you so choose, be added to a list of people waiting for side roles. Side roles are like playing as someone's pocketAI, newly created robot janitors, hive workers for a queen alien eating the ship, etc. I'll try to make people aware if theres people waiting so that can create demons or robots if they can. Oh, also you can be cloned.

If people go silent for a round or 2, that's okay, space does weird stuff to the brain and those brain chips that remove the need for sleep might be having strange side effects, however if someone is out for several rounds, they'll fall over and it's recommended they be moved to medical so that they can be watched over before the next shuttle arrives or they recover.

tl;dr;

so basically the idea is, I want to see if people would be interested in a PvP-ish "campaign", with hopefully most of the characters on the ship being actual players and not me. I think the warhammer 40k system Dark heresy would be best for this, however, if people would be interested in this only if using the pathfinder system I could make it work.

So, yeah, I want to know if this is a horrible Idea or not, now I know a lot of this is vague and... it is, because I don't have many of the rules laid out yet, if people ARE interested that's my sign that I should actually lay out the rules and run it.

I'd be interested in a game using the pathfinder stuff :)

I don't have access to other game types :/
but a PvP game is an interesting Idea.

but gameplay seems really complicated on how you are describing it.. perhaps if you revised the system a bit you would find more interest.

and this system could be applied to any genre... not just space :)

I have some characters I want to use and there are no games that would take them so... but alas they are all pathfinder!

my character idea is a telekineticist who evades his opponents by laying down barriers and dashing away. in combat he runs and shoots pebbles at his enemies.

I agree with william Nightmoon. Although, it doesn't matter what system it will be run with to me :)

ah! but I would like pathfinder otherwise i am at a loss!

I love SS13, but I don't think that pathfinder might be the best system for this? Not sure.

well, as i said, it doesn't have to be space in nature... unless someone is kind enough to provide me with some links to 40K system so I can do a crash course lesson and build a character. :)

ah, after it went through a day of no posts i kinda stopped checking thinking it probably faded away.

so on character builds. What I have in mind right now to keep it simple is depending on your Job you select I give out a premade character, as the power level of people on the station shouldn't be all that high. (so you won't have much to build with, and so when you die, you can come right back in as a robot or alien drone or something.)

though this would be because of the issue with potentially many people playing so I could keep track of things.

@ revising the system, this is my gathering a general idea of how many people would be interested in playing this mafia esque system. The idea is usually a bunch of low level people trying to fend off a proportionally small but experienced criminals(who are NOT working in tandem). I will definitely create rules for this if i decide to run it, it should be basically the same as the core system, except if it's in pathfinder a change to the skills and then skill checks on how to perform your job with things going wrong.

Engineers need to keep the station powered and make sure it isn't leaking Atmo(traitor engineers could do the opposite).
Scientists need to research various applications of the minerals that are mined(traitors using them to help themselves).
Medical keeps people alive and clones the dead(though mistakes can happen/so many drugs to use).
etc.

@ why space? because then no one is a farmer as their job, every job can be rewarding for traitors and non-traitors. Hydroponics can make plant people in space, can't do that as a farmer in PF, unless you're a magic farmer... in which case why are you a farmer. :P

@ 40k system - I like it because it relies mostly on ability checks and thus has more than 6 and "skills" are instead talents that increase specific usages of that attribute, also it already has skill rules for various tech stuff.

I'd keep it simple and try to make the preset classes easily readable for people not familiar with the system, such is the advantage of being low level.

@ then why am I on this board if i like 40k so much.

I like this board and already know i can run non-pathfinder stuff here. '3'

Okay then, where can I get the rules for the 40k stuff... for free preferably. I'm not rich.

the parts relevant to the game will be included in the write up.

(like basically there's 10 attributes, and I'd include the parts for skill checks, also it's a d100 system, I don't want any one to buy the 40k system for this, it should be complete standalone, it's just a nice base to stand on.)

Like I said, pathfinder can work, since everything will be low level, but I'd have to make skills so I can differentiate say, what an engineer could do versus a scientist. If people really want pathfinder I can do it. (which seems to be the case... I'm also thinking it might actually be easier since the only thing I'd have to write up is skills now that I think about it)

also omg that was fast.

edit: so there's been a bunch of edits in this post, but this one is important-ish, I think I'm favoring a pathfinder system now...

Dotting in. I love SS13

Oh, sorry for my speed, I am almost always checking this cute :)

bumping. I don't have much more to add but hopefully I can get a few more. I think 10 or so interested people would be good. Otherwise it'd back to the drawing board.
