So if it was Blackheart, you'd be cool with that?

Liberty's Edge

I'm cool with anything dude

Even Doctor Pandemonium?

I'm just saying the dog that is made up to hide the presence of the demon figures name is King. they said it was a mutant an old mutant that doesn't have a body is merely on the astral plane. and the weird bald demon even looks a little like what kings body looked like before he was an entirely astral entity.

Liberty's Edge

Wow tonight's show was unbelievable. I'm not spoilering anything: go watch it. UNNNNNNNbelievable. The actors are massively top notch too, but that's just the cherry on the sundae. Paying attention to the credits this time, well... pretty much everyone at Marvel is involved in this show. Kirby, Stan Lee, Fine, Singer, Qesada, Claremont, Loeb, and then... Cameron (Fargo, Big Lebowsky) ...which is just adding such an element to this... such a weird / shocking / psychedelic / mind expanding / philosophical element.... Deeply impressed, and appreciation is growing. For the first time in Marvel history you really see the realistic, horrifying implications of what the presence of superpowered beings would entail for our modern world. Telepathy and elements of mind control is not meant for a two-hour sitting in a theatre. You need a full show like this. This is the medium the genre has deserved all along. Well done. Slow clap Van Beek style.

don't you dare click this before seeing Episode 5:
Tonight this demon figure gave me chills. His slow walk with evil grin in David's mindscape... David paralyzed as he bears down on his girlfriend... man.. that was truly horrifying. Seems like it got the upper hand too... based on the previews for next episode... :(.....

One of the things about this show that I find captivating is the set design. Circles are everywhere and with episode 5 they were interpossed with other shapes. The whole background is just facinating to look at

finding the x-men symbols in the show would make for a great drinking game. A lot of the windows have that look/style.

Liberty's Edge

I'll never treat lemures in the same way after seeing this show. I have thoughts of advancing a lemure's HD and/or give it mesmerist levels... :P

How..how do they manage to make a hobo version of Fred Flintstone so damn scary

Chaine, that's certainly one way to go...

Grey,

They probably found Wes Schneider's secret evil stash.

Liberty's Edge

don't you dare click this before seeing Episode 6... I mean it... major earth shattering spoilers... don't click I say!:
Again... they did it AGAIN! managed to get this episode better than the last that is. Also, Shadow King confirmed.... latched to David's consciousness right in the womb. And he trash talked Xavier indirectly by telling David bad mojo stuff like 'why did he abandon you?' Also, other characters becoming less useless... one by one escaping David's Shadow King-controlled mindscape by entering the Astral with the help of Oliver, but now by themselves as they seem to be learning how to do it from Oliver if I'm judging the last scene correctly. Fantastic fantastic fantastic!

*raises his hand* I admit it! I was wrong! You all were right. I yield.

I Have learned dread for the white background with green and yellow boxes. It means the show is over this week and I have to wait for the next one.

Good news then, Legion was renewed for a second season.

When the backgrounds in the show shifted from circles everywhere to squares I knew something had gone from bad to worse

Liberty's Edge

wow... so glad we're getting season 2!

Last night's episode: Daaaaaamn.

Hulu has a four day delay.

But at least I'm all caught up. Episode six was crazy! :-)

Episode seven: Walter/The Eye learns origami. Dan Stevens gets to use his real English accent, then does an American affecting an English accent, then criticizes the aforementioned accent. Aubrey Plaza takes sexy scary up yet another notch. Oliver displays his actual mutant power is producing martinis from hammerspace.

I should probably start watching Noah Hawley's Fargo.

Yes!!!

Fargo is awesome!

Season two is a prelude to season one and features a villain quoting The Jabberwock as he's about to go on a rampage.

Edit: also Bruce Campbell as Ronald Reagan. :-)

Episode 7 was an absolute treat to all Marvel fans. Episode 8 (next week) is the season finale... I seriously think Aubrey Plaza should get a Emmy nomination for this.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Well she should if only because I think she's owning on Shadow King right now.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

She should because she's a spectacular talent.

There isn't a role, no matter how small (see: Nashville episode of Drunk History) she doesn't own. :-)

She even made the RomCom with Zack Effron bearable. (yes... I had to sit through this... for reasons...)

Does anyone else think fatty SK looks plastic and fake?
He was good as the shadowy boogeyman, but disappointing in bright light.

Heck yeah. The show is really gripping, after me taking a few episodes to warm up to it, and she's my absolute favorite. (Although the guy playing David is also doing a great job.)

I was hoping, at the beginning, that she was Cindy, from the comics, David's pyrokinetic personality, and that we'd get to see her ongoing, but this role is so much meatier, even if, perhaps, got a limited shelf-life...

only 8 episodes? *sad face* I guess its better then swapping villains mid season or dragging the same villain on and on.

I prefer dramas (or any hour long show really) stick around the 8-12 episode seasons. Anymore then that and things start coming apart or start to get confused, or you're more likely to get a mailing it in episode, or etc, etc.

You tend to get a better quality show. :-)

Scarab Sages

I totally agree. If recent premium cable excellence has shown anything this past decade it's that short seasons are great catalysts for increasing quality.

Most BBC programming has similarly short or shorter seasons and it's grown on me over the years. American television and anime could learn a thing or two about telling more concise stories with less filler.

Its funny I was re watching gargoyles (Disney animated) and season 2 has 50 episodes. Ofcourse they don't have a long on going single story its almost like a soap opera in that they have several characters that will interact for an episode then come back later on.

I think legion has me sold on the short seasons if everything works out like it did on this one.

Liberty's Edge

Spoiler:
Bah. Anyone else a little disappointed?

Scarab Sages

Kinda. More WTF though. The stinger has me all huh though.

One a representation note though, burn guys nontraditional family was interesting.

How so! Damn Hulu for it's four days delay!

Scarab Sages

Burn guy is married to his male boss? (Someone in a position of power at Division 3) And they have a black son. It was very matter of fact and well done. The entire opening sequence is basically his rehab from the time since episode 1. It was just nice to see a non-traditional family unit being portrayed in a normal manner instead of a look at us manner.

All I know is I'm glad the Shadow King won't be a one and done character.

Awesome! I can't wait until they add it to Hulu. :-)

If there wasn't already plans for a season two, I certainly would have been.

Liberty's Edge

I'm wondering if they added the last episode after they got the 2nd season greenlighted?

Legion season 2 premieres April 3rd at 10PM Eastern on FX.

Liberty's Edge

Oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Season one is currently on Hulu.

"All In Your Head" (season 2 teaser)

Interesting...

Also hail the Shadow King! :)

Another season 2 teaser

And another teaser

And another another teaser (very trippy) (looks like Farouk at the end, maybe?)

Scarab Sages

Yeah, the new trailer shows them unearthing what is probably shadow kings natural body, though not near as cool (or sleazy hot) as Plaza was in season 1. I'm really looking forward to this, but need to rewatch Season 1 in the mean time.

(Non-teaser) trailer for season 2 of Legion which premieres April 3

Sorta non-sequitur-ish: Aubrey Plaza's 36 minutes of ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response)
