False Opening Questions.

Rules Questions

I'm making a Gulch Gunner and I found False Opening will help boost my AC against the AoOs I want to provoke, but I have 2 questions about False Opening.

1) Point Blank Master requires Weapon Specialization with a chosen weapon, but in order to get Weapon Specialization I need a way around the fighter level requirements. What I'm asking is if there is a way around said requirements.

2) Does the AoO you provoke from False Opening count as provoking an AoO due to firing a ranged weapon for the purpose of regaining Grit from AoOs via Gulch Gunner's Grit Feature?

Point Blank Master requires levels in Ranger (6, to be exact) to take as a Bonus Feat with a specific Combat Style, but in place of Weapon Specialization you need Weapon Focus (which you would need for False Opening anyway, so it's a win-win there).

As for the second part, yes, because you are choosing to make the action you take (ranged attack) to provoke, even if normally it doesn't. This does set a precedent, in that you can't just freely choose to provoke an AoO, so you would need the feat in order to do so of your own volition.

1) The Zen Archer monk archetype grants you Point Blank Master at level 3, in addition to a bunch of bonus feats. So I'd go monk instead of ranger if you want to keep the multiclassing to a minimum.
The downside is that you'll lose 1 BAB and some HP since the monk is a 0.75 BAB class.

2) I would say yes.
