Daring Champion's Precise Strike

Rules Questions

I know this has been asked a bunch of times, but most of the posts are pretty old and I was hoping there's been some official ruling since then. Or maybe an FAQ or something.

Does the Daring Champion's Precise Strike using the Daring Champion's level to damage?

I figure RAI is that it does, but if RAW doesn't support it, I might need some convincing in case my GM goes no.

Why do they get the ability if it does nothing? It is stupid in the extreme to think it only functions if you multiclass into swashbuckler, which would give you the ability anyway. If your GM rules in the idiotic way that makes it useless, this is a sign to leave the game.

Daring Champion and Precise Strike is one of those rare cases where the intent is actually objectively clear, so it's a safe bet.

The whole RAW/RAI thing gets abused all the time by people looking to justify how they think a rule should work (usually out of self-interest). However, in a case where a feature does nothing - literally has no effect at all - without making a basic assumption about RAI, you can go ahead and assume.
