Horror Modules

Adventures

Hey guys! I am looking to (for the first time ever in four years GM'ing...) write my own module! It's going to be horror-themed, since that is the kind of stuff which always worked best for me and my players while running campaigns (The Sanitarium and Foxglove Manor from the Skinsaw Murders come to mind).

Now, since I am looking for some inspiration I am planning to maybe run one or two great horror-modules to see what does and doesn't work for me and my players. Do you guys have any suggestions? I am also planning on getting the Horror Adventures book by the way! Thanks!

I'd check out Carrion Hill (Lovecraftian horror), Feast of Ravenmoor (creepy backwoods cults), and The House on Hook Street (nightmare landscapes and occult shenanigans). All three of those are fantastic.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestion!

From Shore to Sea has a very Innsmouth feel to it as well.

Carrion Crown #1 (The Haunting of Harrowstone) is a very thematically appropriate horrific adventure. Of the Carrion Crown AP, it is really the only one I would lump in Horror (maaaaybe book 4 Wake of the Watcher) as the rest of the AP is pretty generic monster movie trope checklists. Harrowstone has possession, gruesomeness, and a killer scythe that hunts the party. My only complaint with it is how much more powerful the end boss (aptly named "The Splatterman") is than the party, and how its entry in the book pretty well tells you to pull punches to avoid a TPK.

Then there's the brand new Pathfinder Module called Gallows of Madness. It's actually three thematically linked horror adventures that you can play as one-shots, as a linear mini-campaign, or as a sandbox because they're all set in and around the same town. The first part is urban investigation, the second one is a wilderness adventure, and in the third one you explore an abandoned estate with a haunted reputation.

I wrote the third part, so I'm a little biased, but I'm really looking forward to running it for my group in the near future. :)

Nice to hear Gallows of Madness is horror-themed! I'll definitely be picking that one up myself, then.

Rise of the Runelords, parts 2 (The Skinsaw Murders) and 3 (Hook Mountain Massacre) have very strong horror themes. You might want to take a look at those.

Feast of Ravenmoor is a great one.

Consider the Rite Publishing Kaidan setting of Japanese Horror (PFRPG)

The Curse of the Golden Spear trilogy of intro modules (5th, 6th, 7th level) to Kaidan: The Gift, Dim Spirit, and Dark Path

One shot horror modules: Frozen Wind, Up from Darkness and Haiku of Horror: Autumn Moon Bath House.

Well I don't know how that happened, but thanks for the fix, Thanael.
