Iron Spike proficiency as wooden stake?

Wooden stakes are simple weapons and include this description:

Do iron spikes use the same proficiency, or just same damage?

An iron spike is an improvised weapon that uses the same damage as a wooden stake. It doesn't have a proficeny, although catch off guard or rough and ready would function as such.
