Deadeye's Arrow and Composite Bows

Rules Questions

Does Deadeye's Arrow do additional STR damage from being fired from a Composite Bow?

For example, does CL 5 Deadeye's Arrow deal 1d6+5+2 from a Composite Bow (+2) or does it do 1d6+5?

No, probably not. It's not explicit, but it's a arrow made of electricity and has no physical mass to add strength to presumably. At least thats how I would run it. The whole damage is electricity damage.

Per the wording of "Shock Arrow", I wouldnt think it gets any other effect from being "fired" from a bow over being thrown other than a greater range. Any enhancement bonus to hit, or other bow related bonuses (weapon focus, etc) would also not be taken into account.

Spells like this are a bit frustrating.

If you read the spell as written, it appears that you can turn your normal arrows in to electrical arrows and store them indefinitely. The "1 round" duration appears to only apply if you use it as a "beacon"

Looks like there's should be a PFS FAQ on whether this persist across adventures.

I think that's a very willfully inaccurate way to interpret the way the spell is written.

I think it's pretty clear that the spell consumes an arrow and grants you a magical electricity arrow that is either thrown/fired for damage or thrown straight up for the "beacon" effect as part of the spell.

There's nothing "willful" going on here. This is the only spell I've seen that allows one to shoot a bow as part of the casting of the spell given the spell's duration is a Standard Action and not an immediate action.

However, after rereading the Ranged Touch Attack rules, I can reason that this spell is meant to be considered a Ranged Touch Attack, even though using it as a beacon is not a ranged touch attack and shouldn't be held to the same rules restrictions.

The spell is poorly written. It's not the first and it certainly won't be the last.

Instantaneous: The spell energy comes and goes the instant the spell is cast

You cannot store arrows indefinitely. They take effect and then disappear.

The bow is effectively an optional material component that allows you to extend the range of the spell to that of the bow.
