Prestige Classes and Spell-Like Racial Abilities, still legal?

Advice

Scarab Sages

Hi, I haven't played the game in a while. I am finding out that Blood of Angels and Demons races are no longer allowed in PFS. Are there any allowed races that give Spell-Like abilities that satisfy some of the spellcasting requirements for some Prestige Classes?

Also, does the FAQ still state that those abilities can be used to satisfy the requirements of those prestige classes?

No, that FAQ has since been reversed.

Scarab Sages

So, even clerics with domains cannot be used to satisfy the second level divine spell requrement for Mystic Theurge?

FAQ is that SLAs don't count as spells for pre reqs.

Scarab Sages

So, what happens with characters that were created and played while the ruling was that it was legal?

Scarab Sages

Also, you can still have more than one class, am I right?

They can count if the prerequisite if the prerequisite is the specific spell that the SLA is based on.

Spell-Like Abilities, Casting, and Prerequisites: Does a creature with a spell-like ability count as being able to cast that spell for the purpose of prerequisites or requirements?

Only if the pre-requisite calls out the name of a spell explicitly. For instance, the Dimensional Agility feat (Ultimate Combat) has "ability to use the abundant step class feature or cast dimension door" as a prerequisite; a barghest has dimension door as a spell-like ability, so the barghest meets the "able to cast dimension door prerequisite for that feat. However, the barghest's dimension door would not meet requirements such as "Ability to cast 4th level spells" or "Ability to cast arcane spells".

So having Mage Hand as an SLA would meet the "Ability to cast mage hand" prerequisite for Arcane Trickster, but you couldn't use an SLA to meet the "and at least one arcane spell of 2nd level or higher" prerequisite.

However I believe you can use Faith Magic to qualify.

I have a thread about it in the rules forum.

PFS says if the character had levels of the prestige class on a certain date it can keep going, but nobody can enter the prestige class early anymore.
