*Jessy. But being a cook. We forgive you ;)

I tried running a level 20 game. One of the character was a legendary cook. Alchemist with the Improved Alchemical Simulcrum discovery as a sous chef. Pretty good in melee.

Sovereign Court

I play a kung fu chef in a live-action fantasy game (I actually make dim sum at games) and we had an event where we had an Iron Chef competition. I lost, but I got invited to attend the imperial culinary institute, and my character learned to make food with magical bonuses.

>.>' I didn't even think of alchemy... this changes everything!!!

Looking forward to tomorrow! Good luck, everybody!

Dark Archive

Oh, enchant the pot as well, custom enchantment that makes all cooking done with it have a +2!

Just noticed this. Is it too late to join? I'll likely want to play a hydrokineticist if I do join.

Last day is today from what the GM has said.

@ Qenna
Recieved. May want to finish the fluff before deadline though.

@ Kahel
You have until I wake up on the 2nd (by then everyone should have passed September 1st). Until then, I will accept all character submissions. Everyone has an equal chance to join.

Dark Archive

you all have a great chance to join!

hope i get to play with some of you, the synergy is awesome! Owl seems like a really fun character, and i do think him and Shadepelt will have some interesting dialogue... or lack thereof on Shadepelt's part.

oh, and her real name is Miro, but she has taken the title "Shadepelt" in honor of her ability to blend in with the shadows due to her shadowy colored fur.

@Shadepelt: And in honor of her favorite book series which she secretly keeps in her pillow case to read every night =P

But yeah should be a fun campaign. I hope I get chosen but even if I don't just good luck to everyone! I'll probably read it anyways =P

GL HF to all :)

Cool. Added ability and feat text to Otho's character sheet and cleaned up some errors I saw in his fluff there as well.

As Seth said, good luck everyone.

Sovereign Court

Yeah! Hope everyone finds a game to love :)

Cool, still tinkering a bit. Initial idea was an aasimar kineticist, but I then retooled it a bit for human. Still need to pick a new trait, and possibly redo attributes if it's not 20 point buy (need to double check). Will get the full sheet added later today once I double check creation and make final decisions.

I'd worry more about the backstory than the build.

Backstory is rather basic, young adventurer just starting out. And I should chose a different picture when I update the profile. The character was initially made for a Hells Rebels AP play-by-post that fizzled before the first encounter. So the main tweaks are race, and lower starting funds meaning I had to redo equipment.

Since I use hero lab to create my character sheets, build modifying is fast and easy.

Good luck everyone!

Who needs luck when you can legitimately tell bandits "you're all washed up" after you beat them?

And yes, I realize how bad of a pun Flo's name is considering she's a hydrokineticist.

It's a pretty basic build. And no deep thought was put into backstory. I'm thinking her abilities came to light when she was swept overboard while traveling via ship. Beyond that, pretty standard youth seaking adventure. Okay, sheet for Flo is as follows:

Hmm...I'll be submitting an aasimar druid, with an animal companion. I'll make it as quick as I can.

EDIT: Actually, scratch that. As it's one day left to apply, plus I don't think I can catch up on all modules, I think I'll have to skip out on this. Good luck to all who have submitted their characters, and have fun to those who are selected!

*Looks around*

Hmm, anyone know any jokes?

Dark Archive

Good ones, bad ones, or simply groaners?

Ya know what you call someone who's an A-hole 50% of the time?

A semi-colon.

Dark Archive

Shadepelt just watches, her mouth shut and her eyes expecting... waiting for your jokes to begin... yet they won't come, instead you are left in silence as shadepelt just watches.

oh, you ninja'd the ninja...

What does a goblin call three gnomes in a pickle barrel?

Did you hear about the Gelatinous Cube Lawyer?
He practices Square Cube Law.

How do angels and archons make their beds?
By flumphing the pillows

Dark Archive

Okay, here's one I made up many years ago. Still think it's amusing. It does work better when told aloud though.

A man took his private vessel out onto the ocean. A week into his planned trip he gets caught in a monsoon and the ship is wrecked. Fortunately he washes ashore on a small island. After five years trapped alone on the island he's finally rescued. The media makes a big deal over the fact that he'd spent five years on a deserted island.

During one of the interviews the reporter asks "Tell me, during those five years were on the island, were you hungry or scared?"

The man thinks for a moment then groans. "Hungry? Not a chance. I'm still full from the cupcakes."

Kahel Stormbender wrote:

Whatever you feel like telling, really. Most of mine are probably bad ones and groaners.

Speaking of groaners...

What special ability do rogue oozes get?
Sneeze Attack!

Did you you here about the zombie comedian?
His act is a real groaner!

Did you about the skeleton performing at the opera?
He just kinda fell apart

Did you hear about the necromancer who committed suicide?
He liched himself to death.

the Horse doesn't respond because it is an animal. It clambers around the bar before finnaly leaving, knocking a few tables over on his way out.

So a string walks into a bar and orders a glass of water. The bartender points to a sign which reads We don't serve strings. Dejected, the string leaves the bar. He contorts himself then breaks up the ends. Finally the string re-enters the bar.

The bartender looks him over and asks "Are you a string?"

Only to be told "Nope, I'm a frayed knot."

Or another one...

What does a wood cutter and a chiropractor have in common?
They both deal with lower lumbar problems

The people I play (live) PF with usually like keeping track of silly gaffs and slips of the tongue while playing.

Some of the better ones we've had:
"I'll hit him using True Scheidt" (a True Strike spell would be a lot cleaner)
"I'll hit him with a massive missile"
"Is he moving faster than the sound of speed?"
"I'm going to use my gerbil arrows" (Durable Arrows are more effective, but not as cute)

Omg guys, I leave for less than a day...

Anyway, as mentioned in previous posts, I will be closing recruitment when I wake up tomorrow to give time difference a chance. I will make a decision based on amount of free time I have, and render a decision within a week's time.

Shadepelt bows to her master, the DM overlord of all realms... He who is higher than even the gods!...

Then she returns to the group of joke making adventurers

I use to game IRL with someone who was always trying to find and open the treasure breast in dungeons. He never did find one.

Adventured with a guy who occasionally tried to cast polymath spells. We weren't quite sure if he understood all the angles.

And once when I was playing a half-elf sorcerer I was shortly joined in the local tavern by a human, a dwarf, and a gnome. The bartender looked over at us and asked "Is this a joke?"

Economic Infusions

It seems a universal truth that every great event, every kingdom saved, and every hero made, all started with a collection of strangers sitting in a bar looking or work. It starts with a slowly gathering crowd, shifty eyes, sizing up machismo, equal parts ego and desperation. It doesn't matter what town we are in, or even the name of the bar, we gather. As I write this by lamplight away from the stage, we are at the predictable, but very important, joke telling portion of the evening. I can submit no scientific study to provide verisimilitude, but I'd put the average consumption at about 3.5 ales before the first prospective hero tells a joke. For those of you not in the business, I'll provide a quick rundown what it takes to get to this point.

It starts with a missive, a rumor, a post board announcement. Something needs doing, and someone is willing to pay you more that you've ever made for the privilege to bleed and possibly die to accomplish their goals. But we do it. Every time, with little hesitation and a great willingness. In this case it was a standard 'Adventurers Wanted' poster. A meeting place, and the initials D.M. That is all it takes. There will be a fresh faced newcomers, the ever present grizzled veterans, and a few, like myself, who fall somewhere in between. We have a beer or two with dinner, staring over our mugs at our competition and possible future boon companions. That's the great thing about adventurers. We are fiercely competitive, I think that comes naturally to anyone who is willing to assume dire risks for gold, yet by beer three we starting looking at the upside. These lot could be my friends! How do you begin a friendship, even if its just or the night, in a bar with a collection of strangers? The are killers in this room, sneak-thieves, holy men, dabblers in magic and alchemy. An entire spectrum of hero wannabes and self-medicating urban psychopaths. You tell a joke. We all want to laugh, to lighten the tension. Some of us have done this ritual dozens of times. We may not get picked for the job, but for one night in some hole-in-the-wall tavern, we are the economic infusion this no name town needs. We buy your bread and barley, we drink your beer and mead, we eat your steak and harvests, and we always tip the barmaid.

It's past time I joined the party, my goblin friend is laughing his little head off at a joke about three gnomes and a pickle jar. The mood is light and we're having fun. Its the perfect time to take the stage. Tomorrow we might be sore losers, trotting on to the next gathering, or risking our lives for glory, or dying for nothing. But for now, we are safe. Good food, good beer, and good moods, waiting for 'D.M.' to deliver us to the doorstep of our destiny. So that we can create it. Define it. To become the new heroes of old, our songs sung, and our stories told.

Adventurers Wanted

We come from all walks of life. We are noblemen and farmers. We are beggars and soldiers. No two of us are alike, and yet we all share one common trait. We headed the call to adventure. But why? What causes normal men and women to risk their life and limb fora handful of copper and the promise of glory? Yet again, our reasons are as many and varied as where we came from. There seems to be no common theme.

For some it is a duty. Duty to their god(dess) or country. They are men and women who would march into the nine hells for a righteous cause. Some days I admire them for their courage. They chose to face the horrors of the world for something as vague as a good cause. Other days I consider them naive and pity them. How many of these brave souls die alone with nobody to mourn their passing?

For others it's vengeance. Ah, vengeance... That burning need that drives you ever onward to greater madness. And it is indeed madness to declare vengeance upon the world. Sometimes it's a hunt for a specific person. Other times they seek out a group. Or even more insane, they seek revenge against a god or goddess. Such self destructive adventurers rarely survive long. But those who do are ones to be wary of.

Still others are in it for fame and glory. Ah, but what glory can be found on the battle field? What fame of worth can be gained in some nameless crypt or subterranean lair? Many adventurers die within a year of setting out. And those who survive that long, well, this life rarely lets one die of old age. And while it's true that those who survive a while tend to become famous, is that a good thing? Glory accrued and danger faced seem to go hand in hand. It's inevitable that something you can't handle will find you.

And yet others join this hazardous life to seek riches uncounted. Greed is a common factor. Yet I have to wonder if such adventurers might have been better served in a safer line of work? While it is true that an established adventurer can be unimaginatively wealthy, most of that wealth is sunk into things they wont part with. Or perhaps can't part with. I heard tales of a monk who carried around many bars of mithral. He was in theory wealthy and could afford what ever he wanted. And yet he was also dirt poor. No where was he able to convert those mithral bars into coin of the realm. Towns and villages couldn't afford to give him change.

But then there are those like myself. People who if asked couldn't tell you why they are taking up the life. I could have been a river trader like my father and made plenty of gold. And in truth my gifts would have stood me well in that line of work. But instead here I am sitting in a tavern. I didn't catch the name of the tavern, nor do I remember the name of this town. The only important thing is the parchment on the tavern's wall. The parchment that reads "Adventurers Wanted".

The reasons we are here are as varied as we are ourselves. But the one thing in common we share is this: When the call to adventure was sounded, none of us could resist.

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided on the following characters.

Thank you all for your applications, if you have any questions or curiosity on why I didn't choose your character, feel free to message me.
