Undead Cleric - Versatile Channeling ... or really any positive energy channel

Let's just say my DM has signed off on a Neutrally aligned undead cleric. We've run into the snag of what happens when he tries to channel positive energy to heal other people? As I understand the RAW, if he targets the living, he's fine. If he targets undead, he risks crispy crittering himself.

you can always exclude yourself even without selective channeling. but he could hurt himself if he did target himself.

When channeling energy a cleric can always choose to include himself in the channel or not, so this cleric can simply decide for the channel to not affect him.
