The Splatter Man Hardcore -GM helping

Carrion Crown

Hi guys, I'm a GM looking for some tips. My party is pretty experienced and they asked for a very difficult campaign.

Now is time to rework The Splatter Man and i'm searching some help.

The first thing should be giving him full casting capabilities, adding spells like Black Tentacles and Empowered Fireball to his list.

I dunno if this alone would be enough.

this is my party composition:
paladin archer
hunter
cavalier order of the dragon
sorcerer blaster
cleric of pharasma

Any tip would be really appreciated

Some suggestions if ya wanna make them suffer.
He's incorporeal so have him line of sight in the walls to where they have to be in the room to target him. Add some rat swarms and have him summon monsters. Have him regularly go into the walls and come out to use his touch attack thru the floors, granted its a 50% chance to miss the players but the players will also have a 50% chance to miss him as well. Use the terrain rules as well as lighting rules. Since incorporeal going thru walls and according to rules, unless detect evil or detect undead (remember the amount of time to pinpoint) he's gonna be really hard to even notice coming up behind them. If u want u could have the bbeg take 10 on stealth also adding in multiplier of him still being in wall as well so that's what the perception check they have to pass to notice him coming out of u want, but other wise since they don't make a sound at all u could forgo that check.

With detect evil/undead and going with him staying in walls, the players would have a good chance to dmg him with a 50% chance to miss every 3 rounds leaving 2 rounds for him to cause severe damage to them. Also with long casting spells have him partially in the walls that way there's still a 50% chance for the players to miss, I'd use the summon monsters that way.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It would be a good idea to also play up how he killed people in real life, by setting traps that they themselves would spring, dooming themselves.

I, myself, had a villager wander down there and he set them up as bait in a very Saw-esque trap that would trigger on the PCs if the person was freed.
