Hey all, I'm looking to replace a member of my pbp Iron Gods campaign. We're still in the first book, having just beaten Jezvit and his greedy gang of gremlins. The rest of the group seems pretty dedicated to getting through the game. We've even survived a month long hiatus.
Just looking for one character at the moment, so why don't you give recruitment your best shot.
-20 point buy
-All material from the Hardcovers, Technology Guide, People of the River, and People of the Stars are allowed. Stuff from other splatbooks or 3rd party needs to be approved of by me.
-2 traits; one must be a campaign trait from the Iron Gods Player's Guide.
-No Evil characters.
-Maximum starting gold for your class to make up for the fact that you haven't grabbed any of the gear the rest of the party has.
-Not sure how long I'm going to keep recruitment open for yet. Probably not more than a week.
-I am available to post most days between 9am-1pm Eastern Standard Time, and will try to post at least once a day, not including weekends.
-The rest of the party is consists of a Human Techslinger whose deeds are themed as coming from a mechanical arm, a Half Elf Unchained Summoner with a mechanical themed Inevitable Eidolon, and a Human looking Mesmerist whose true identity has yet to be revealed.
Looking forward to seeing the suggestions.
EDIT: If you want to check out how the game has progressed, you can find it here

One of the player's here.
My 2 cents:
While I can't speak for the GM or the rest of the group, we could use a real rogue/trap-finder in my opinion. Anything close would work too.
A roguish bard, alchemist, or especially an investigator would work in my estimation as well! We've got most of the rest covered pretty well one way or another between the rest of the group.

Facts:
1 Robular has a Doctorate, and has graduated from the Grand College of Absalam.
2 The Glasses and Doctors Mask are merely a prop to him, as he knows that there is Clerical, and Arcane magic in the world making what he does next to useless in most cases.
3 The truth is more important than the answer in most cases.
4 FOR SCIENCE,is an acceptable battle cry.
5 Its only recently that he has become religious and thats because Cayden Cailean left a tip on a napkin one night while he was wasting away in a bar, "Never be afraid to try a new career in life, after all you only go around once." Robular took this to heart and decided to become an adventure.
Goals:
In Character: To solve a mystery that divine and arcane magic fail to solve
OOC: To finally play this character, I have an idea about him and have wanted to play him but never got a chance.
Secrets:
One of the reasons he left was because of a God, the other because he was sleeping with a Dean and that Dean was married.
There is a cult of doctors out there, that want him, and want his graduate ring so as to get into some of the libraries that he is privy too.
People:
I am not totally sure what to put here.
I can't really remeber a time when I was not learning. I was always in a school, you see my features make it hard on my family to like me. My fathers doing or so I am told, as his new wife hates me. I have been in College of Absolam for over 7 years now. Learning things that Professors choose to teach, and Doctors with us to know. There was a time you see that I rebelled against this learning. But that was after I had already graduated from the dull place, Drinking away my time, and my brain so to speak, until the Napkin was placed before me one drunken night. It might not sound like much after all I had the freedom to not give a hanging lark about it. But Cayden seemed to know something, and I took it up on the offer, changing my life. It really wasn't because I was sleeping with the Dean of History, no surely you heard that wrong. What can I tell you, learning has always been more important to me than actually doing, so why not try doing something, afterall its not often that you get a chance to change your life. I wanted to learn and do stuff FOR SCIENCE, you see I want to find something out. The Question, or something important that must be found, there should be a ways to do this you see. I Think Therefore I Am, cannot be the only thing that I take as Truth, there must be something else out there, something just as confirming, and I am willing to fight and adventure to find out what that thing is. Will I stop adventuring when I find it? Not very likely, though there is a chance that when I find it I will Know and the Knowing of the Thing may cause me to wish to teach, or come back to this College to pour over more tomes, who knows. What I do know is that I have something missing, a part of me that must find out more about lost civilizations, must find out more about Aroden and the Azlanti. There must be some way to open those secrets, Thassalion is just the begining, but it is a begining.

i have an unchained rogue assassiny type doesn't do party face stuff but can do your trapfinding and disabling, also specializes in shanking
Long story short is she's a freelance traveling assassin
Here's the fluff on her, i'll need a few hours to write up the actual crunch
Whenever i think about that night i know i should feel angry...i should feel something, but i don’t. It was a normal night, cold , clear skies and snow on the ground. I was returning from an unsuccessful hunt, i called to my family as i walked in, eye closed only briefly “I’m home”. Opening them I saw pools of blood, Tristan stood there. A look in his eye, A look I recognized...”he broke”. His addiction finally got to him, consumed him until the voices drove him insane.
I charged him my blade drawn, he simply threw me aside. “Little sister, the voices stopped” He said not a hint of remorse, “ all i had to do was kill them and drink their blood.” his white coat stained with blood and tattered. He paused for a brief moment holding his head in pain, he muttered, “Remember”
We had a promise, i would kill him if he ever gave in... “I can’t”
“Then run, save yourself” He began screaming the pain growing worse.
I ran far away into the night, through the snow and moonlight. The days past i grew cold and hungry, game was scarce this year, as it always was. Wandering into a town nearby, I checked the bounty board in the local tavern...I was desperate I picked one, A group of thieves wanted dead...How different could it be from hunting?
Things would continue like this, with each kill, each bounty it became easier.
Ashling, generally wears a dark purple hooded cloak and usually carries a belt of knives, a silvery pendant of Ashava hangs from her neck.
Ashling bares many resemblances to the rest of her family; silvery white hair that she wears short and unkempt, her eyes area bright violet. Having only just become an adult she is still rather child like in appearance: being short and small by human standards.
She generally assumes the personality of a naive and heroic individual, a type of person she assumes most people like. It contrasts greatly from her normal Assassin personality of cold and relentless.
Concept
1) Ashling grew up as a hunter with her family in the far north, a in a generally cold environment.
2) Her favorite non-combat related hobbies are dancing and singing. She incorporates the dancing aspect into her style of fighting, that being swift and acrobatic. Whereas the singing is something she does to distract herself.
3) Her emotional state is very limited due to the trauma of seeing her brother murder their parents in a fit of insanity and bloodlust. She enjoys combat for the reasoning that, it one of the few moments where she feels even the slightest of anything. She goes so far as to pretend to feel emotion, in order to keep people from feeling uncomfortable around her.
4) She has two identities, one as Ashling Frostwing and the other under her Assassin identity “The Phantom”. As The Phantom she wears a white mask with a purple lightning symbol over the right eye, she also keeps her hood drawn. All in order to keep her identity protected, as she fears people will associate her with her older brother, who is a blood drinking serial killer.
5)Though she follows no gods, she wears a symbol of Ashava in memory of her mother and father who were devote followers. Her mother and father are dead.
6)Though she is an assassin/Freelance mercenary she will only accept contract that fit within her moral code. those contracts tend to be one's where she kills those who deserve it, are given by government officials, or the military. She does this to keep her life simple and without worry of being chased out of towns. Though she does kill people and occasionally takes pleasure in it so she can't really be considered good.
Quirks and mannerisms
1) She has issues smiling, even while faking it they tend to be rather creepy and unnerving. Not knowing this she smiles often to try and comfort people.
2)Due to her quiet disposition she often accidentally sneaks around. often having her presence forgotten, only for people to be reminded suddenly.
3) Though generally calm she has moments where she looses her cool, she sings to keep calm and remain cool.
Goals
1) To become strong enough to find and kill her older brother, who has become a mass murdering, blood drinking psychopath.
2) to find people who she doesn't have to fake emotions around and will accept her has she is.
Secrets
known- The actual identity of the Assassin Phantom is one that no one knows except her. Also being the younger sister to an insane murderer doesn't help, a fact only she and her brother know.
Unknown- Her brother sudden insanity and violence was cause by the curse of a fey he killed.

No restrictions on class or race other than they must be from one of the hardcovers unless you clear a 3rd party race with me. (Obviously, no bestiary monsters unless they can be characters normally.)
Unless Matt has changed his mind from the original recruitment thread, you can be any race from a hardcover source. My current character is a Kitsune on the downlow.

I submit Fazzlebit, a gnome mindchemist who is obsessed with skymetals. I will create an alias if he's accepted into the game.
I have not yet purchased equipment for him.
Also, I built the character assuming you were using Background Skills from Pathfinder Unchained. If that's not the case, I'll need to change things around a bit. (Mostly, I'll just have to lose two skill levels.)

Fazzlebit grew up in the gnomish communities in Kyonin. As a young gnome, out exploring (as gnomes are wont to do), he stumbled across a very small nugget of a strange dull coppery metal that made him feel very odd when he held it. Taking it back to his community, an elder gnome identified it as a chunk of Horaculum, a very rare skymetal. Fazzlebit was hooked. How could just a tiny chunk of metal make one feel strange just by holding it? He started to become fascinated with skymetals, wanting to learn everything about it. He discovered that there were some nearby elven warriors who had expensive adamantine weapons, and learned of the ability of that metal to cut through objects with ease, and to give one a fighting chance against constructs.
Fazzlebit followed his curiosity, and learned of the Rain of Stars up in Numeria. As he grew older, he started to study the use of materials both common and rare, and how to mix such materials to produce near-arcane effects. However, he never gave up on his fascination with items of technology, and with the mystery of where they and where skymetals came from.
As a journeyman alchemist and tinkerer, Fazzlebit finally made his way to Numeria in order to study the results of the Rain of Stars first hand. Getting there, he learned of the oppressive presence of the Technic League, realizing it was something he did not want to get involved with. So, he opted not to live in Starfall. Hearing of the town of Torch, and given his fascination particularly with skymetals, he moved there. He now lives in the loft of a small house owned by an elderly Kellid woman. She, too, hates the Technic League, and while she is suspicious of all things technological, she tolerates them. She finds Fazzlebit amusing as he comes down bearing one or another mechanical gadget he's put together, wantingto show her with great enthusiasm what it does (which is very rarely anything practical). (She is quite fond of the small widget he created that he calls a "toaster" that is able to brown slices of bread.) Fazzlebit has also formed a friendship with a blacksmith who forges skymetal materials at the forge that gives the town of Torch its name. (GM: is there an NPC in Torch who would be particularly appropriate for this?)
Average size for a gnome, Fazzlebit has a shock of dark purple hair complete with excessive eyebrows that stick out off of the side of his head. He's usually dressed in an artisan's outfit, and typically has various components and gears falling out of his pockets, as if he had forgotten that he was in the process of building a costume for a steampunk convention.
Fazzlebit has an enthusiasm, and he likes to show it. He's fascinated by anything having to do with magic or the stars in general, but in particular by anything having to do with technology, the Rain of Stars, or the nature and history of the creatures who crashed in that event. He's even learned the language of the stars (which he knows is Androffan, but enjoys calling Startongue), and has begun to tinker with small bits of leftover technology.
A devoted follower of Brigh, he considers everything he builds a small offering to her -- or, at least, he considers the act of building it a sacrement to her.
He is paranoid about the technic league, and frequently looks over his shoulder afraid that they are going to come and spirit him away as a punishment for tinkering with technology.
His grand dream is to amass together enough Horaculum that he might build a time machine and witness the entire history of Golarion. (In reality, it's probably more likely to turn him into a Starfinder character who doesn't remember his childhood....)

It's 3PP and would require special dispensation, but how would you feel about a Soulknife, Cutthroat archetype? Probably a Xeph. I've been wanting to play a Soulknife for a while, I've at least got to ask on a thread that leaves the possibility open.
That's on the d20pfsrd right? Let me look at it. I've decided to end recruitment Sunday night. Please get your submissions in by then.
| Ouachitonian |
It is indeed.
Xeph (psionic race) I could play a lot of races, really. I just figure this one fits the psionic theme.

I don't think I'll have time to put something together in time but I'll have a look.
I'm thinking about an Android Fighter, planning to go into the Cyber-Soldier archetype. Would this be interesting/useful to the group or not? Secondly - would the 'trapfinder' trait from Mummies Mask be allowed as a normal trait? (Trying to be helpful on the trapping front here! :D)
