It'll be interesting to see the end result, from pure technical standpoint. Snyder and Whedon have really different styles as directors. Of course the thing is basically done already and Snyder & cinematographer Fabian Wagner have already created the visual look, but these reshoots & added scenes might look different.

Arch,
I think the ship has already sailed on that point...
It probably has, particularly with the rumors that Batfleck wants out, but as abysmal as the last two films in the DCEU were, Wonder Woman's early buzz is good, and Aquaman has actual colors too in what we've seen. I'd hope a lot of the negatives coming off of BvS and SS where the catalyst for the expansion of the Executive Producers back last year prior to principal filming, and that even with Snyder at the head, WB managed to turn some of the most iconic heroes into actual likable characters.
Not being a big Whedon fan, I'm just crossing my fingers that *HAD* they managed to get something enjoyable (or hell, I'd even take 'good' after the crap dump that was suicide squad), that Whedon doesn't try to Avengers it up so much in post that it feels too bland.

Weird. I think Suicide was the only decent thing that anyone has done with the DC Universe in decades (well, apart from various animated things). It certainly had its flaws, but it was comparatively solid.
You're certainly not alone on that front, many people thought it was good. But man, for me, it was horribly acted garbage.

Mostly, I actually found the acting to be the best part (other than a few mediocre performances); especially considering the shambling mess of a script they had to work with.

Right. Solid waste.

It also has got to be an awkward situation for Whedon too. Good of him to take over for snyder.
But probably not the depression and depression has a way of affecting everyone around you negatively.

I kinda agree with you...but we are speaking about a bar set very low here. I mean the worst Marvel Movie is still alot better than the best DC movie. Heck I would say alot of the Non-Marvel studio Marvel movies are better.

Suicide Squad was the best of the DCEU movies, but for me, it was not still good. I enjoyed some of the characters like Boomer, Harley and Deadshot. Makeup was great, and I think they deserved that Oscar (Killer Croc was amazing). And I liked how it did call it's characters by their supervillain names and they had decent costumes.
But the story, editing, directing, some other characters, most of the intros, ending and most of the fight choreography are seriously lacking in any quality.
I so hope Wondy changes the course of this franchise, but that change should be permanent. With Justice League still looking drab and all, I fear the worst.

Frankly I thought Slipknot just killed his role.

That is a huge understatement. Ghost Rider wasn't just bad, it was Nic Cage bad. Which is a whole new layer of terrible.

Heh, it was bad, but it was campy enough to off set it.

I said alot of..and Ghost Rider was not Marvel studios.
And I would say Ghost Rider was better than BVS or MoS.
Heck the only Marvel movie that has sucked worst than the latest DC movie is the latest FF movie.
Also please note I am not saying the Marvel movies are infallible...I am saying the DC movies suck that much.

Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Incredible Hulk, GotG, Avengers, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange and new Spider-Man (along with future MCU movies) movie are from same studio, Marvel Studios.
Ghost Rider-movies are by Columbia Studios. Now the rights are back with Marvel Studios.
The X-Men movies and Fantastic Four are by 20th Century Fox.
Spider-Man movies are by Sony Pictures. Homecoming is co-made with Marvel Studios.
Marvel Studios are pretty much win so far (Heck, even the bad ones are just boring, not insulting or even near the worst ones from genre). Other studios not, so much. Hate Ghost Riders, dislike most of X-Men movies (liked First Class and Wolverine & Logan) and looooaatthheed Fantastic Four movies. But saying bad Marvel movies like Ghost Rider are a dent for Marvel is just for the bigger comic company, but not for Marvel Studios. If I say Marvel movies got their stuff together, I mean that MCU movies work.
DC has certainly advantage in that it owns all of it's characters, though it spent a nice 20 years making mostly Batman movies, with random Steel and GL movie in between. DC has dozens of characters and teams and stuff that would make great movies. If DC (who's movies are all made by Warner) has one flaw over all, it's in wasting one's potential.

I haven't seen any recent Muppet stuff, but the line I remember from the first Muppet movie is "I've seen detergents that leave a better film than this."

The director's cut of Daredevil is much better. Apparently after focus testing the movie they decided to rip out most of the plot to shoehorn in a bigger love story.
I did not mind Daredevil at all. (Elektra was pretty dire, though.) Jon Favreau was a great Foggy, for instance, and I didn't have any issues with anyone else but Colin Farrell devouring the scenery as a way over-the-top Bullseye.
Then again, I'm the nut who prefers the maligned Green Lantern movie to any of the 'epic' Nolan Bat-movies.

Gabriel Luna's Ghost Rider and hopefully more TV Ghost Rider, awesome.
As for Justice League...well Aquaman got to surf on the Batmobile...
I honestly would be more stoked for a ABC Ghost Rider series than I am currently for the Inhumans.
Oh man, could the show be on Netflix and not ABC?

I sometimes feel very lonely in the camp that is not overly fond of Jason Momoa. He does not really have that much of a range. He was good in Game of Thrones yes, but Khal Drogo was not very complex role. Aquaman is more than just a Conan the Barbarian under the sea, and I can't say that the bits we've seen gives more than that. He is good at fight scenes yes, but that is not a good character.

Ghost Rider was bad.

I'll never understand this statement. I consider the first Ghost Rider to be miles better then the sequel. On almost EVERY level. I even sat through it twice now hoping I misjudged it... but nope. It's just a hot mess.
To date there are only a handful of superhero movies I won't buy... Elektra, Catwoman, Ghost Rider 2 and Steel... Possibly a few other utter disasters I'm not thinking of right now... But GR 2 isn't even a 'So bad it's good' movie... it's just... BAD.
Vidmaster7 |
Both Ghost Rider movies are bad. Half the X-men movies are bad. I actually like the first two fantastic movies but the last one was really bad. Don't forget Dare Devil and Electra, they are horrible.
Oh you liked the FF movies eh sorry I have to give your opinion a lower sway form this point on.
Vidmaster7 |
I also liked the earth mover as hell engine of death and the fact that in this one the bad guys were running scared the whole time which just seems appropriate to me. It was different then the usual hero overcoming a stronger opponent which is good most of the time but a change here and there is nice.
phantom1592 |
yeah, Earth mover of hell was a cool visual... but there was something a bit redundant when so little could hurt him. The first one didn't have a great villain, but the rest fit the source material pretty well. The second?? It wanted to be a sequel yet did everything it could to contradict the first one.
Fantastic Four movies were also underrated. With the exception of ruining doom in the first one, It pretty much hit the points I would have wanted for a FF movie. The second was actually the coolest I have EVER seen the Silver Surfer, a character I have hated for decades...
Daredevil's director cut is an awesome movie. Theatrical was pretty lacking, but still better then a lot of other shows out there. Direct cut?? Near perfect.
Man of Steel I bought, but so far I haven't gotten any of the other DCEU shows... I'll still watch them, but I've set the bar pretty low. Even with Whedon joining in it feels too little too late. His wit combined with Snyder's dark tone.... I don't see it working.

Ah, casual dissing of Aquaman.
Aquaman is a more complex character than one might think. He is both human and atlantean, and is forever tied living between two worlds. He gets hatred from both sides, even if he has friends and allies on both sides as well. Arthur is also a diplomat and a all-around nice guy, especially to civilians he meets. Recent Aquaman comics (Rebirth) has showed his character in a very good light. He is willing to talk, has understanding of politics and intrigue of the court but is also a warrior and a superhero. He stands between humans and atlanteans, trying to prevent war and trying to open both world's more to each other. Even his villains reflect that, with Black Manta and Ocean Master especially. But Arthur also kinda resents both of these worlds for not letting him guide them to peace and for casually overstepping his rule as a monarch and underplaying his part- Justice League especially has history of this.
That is more than just being grumby and generic barbarian. That has levels to it.

I did enjoy the first two FF movies but none of them could do Dr. Doom right at all. I just hope that somehow, someway Marvel gets the rights back from Fox.
As for Justice League, I will see it regardless what people say. If I only watched movies that other people like then I would have missed out on a lot of movies I like.
