This may have been explained elsewhere but I could not find it. I have been called a tinker gnome a time or two. I like to modify things I have. So my question is where do I find rules for tweaking my mundane gear? I want to do things like take a cold iron staff and add silver rings at spaced intervals. Or add silver in gratings to the adamantine mace. Or what would it take to have some one make me a pair of gloves with a small pocket I can place a shock stone for when I hit something. Any help or am I SOL.

That stinks. I was hoping there was some leeway or item modification rules out there for us creative types. I would be willing to pay the maker more for the items.
Most of the people that play the game are creative types.
And thats part of the problem.
It's hard to draw the line between "well it just deals two special materials types of damage" on your silver/cold iron staff and someone shooting arrows that rip people into an inter-dimensional vortex never to be seen again

True I was just hoping for something like Stars Wars did where you can make basic modified equipment. Well I guess I strike our again. Thanks everyone.
Quite often you can reflavour existing solutions to get something close to what you want (as long as what you're reflavouring to does not exist)
For example, putting weapon blanche on your adamantine weapon is quite legal.
But some of your creative suggestions above really should be shot down OR cost a substantial amount. A cold iron/Adamantine weapon is a significant benefit over just an adamantine one. If it was as simple as puting cold iron into grooves lots of people would have done it already in world.

What you're asking for is called custom crafting, and it's not allowed, specifically because of cheese interpretations like the one you're trying to do to get multiple special materials on one weapon which specifically violates the general rule that "only the most prevalent material counts".

I'd like to call out Paul's answer above, which explains the sense of the campaign and offers ways that the OP can get close to his ideas. It's informative and welcoming. Nice job, Paul.
Frost890, the way this game system is organized, special benefits almost always cost something substantial. Alchemical items are indeed a good place to start, as are buying Equipment Tricks and looking at Dirty Trick maneuvers.
