Questions about the Kineticist

Rules Questions

So I'm working on building a Kineticist and I have a couple questions I've been pondering.

A: Is there a way for a Kineticist to acquire simple blasts outside of the one gained at first level for free and the ones gained through Expanded Element at 7th and 15th level?

B: Can a Kineticist carry power stored using Internal Buffer over to the next day?

C: Am I the only one who thinks that while Gather Power is important to the class in terms of keeping it functioning and throwing Blasts all day, its visual and auditory effects make it a class feature that puts an enormous bullseye on the character that will result in most intelligent opponents immediately trying to ice the character?

Shadow Lodge

A) No, unfortunately.

B) Yes. "Once the kineticist adds points to her buffer, they remain indefinitely until she spends them."

C) While Gather Power might cause problems by alerting new enemies to your presence I would only expect it to make you a priority target if you're

As above. This is why going Fire/Fire is a risk, since anything fire immune will ruin your day. On the other hand, you can access the only composite blast that targets touch AC and deals full damage, i.e. Blue Flame Blast, which can mean you dish out serious hurt when you go nova. It's risk vs. reward.

Internal Buffer is essentially designed for this exact purpose. Aside from the minor benefit of letting you exceed the normal burn on one blast, the big deal with it is banking burn on downtime days.

Gather Power is essentially designed to avoid you getting away with cheesy invisibility or concealment hits. As for making you a target in combat, it's completely at the DM discretion. If I was DM, I'd probably give intelligent opponents a priority against you if you displayed this power, animals a penalty, and mindless no change.
