One of the things I love most about Golarion is that there is a ton of stuff left unwritten. It allows me to expand on things in my games and invent new things to further enrich the game world. A part of the setting that always interests me are the divine being they have and how the interact with their followers and each other. On one of the Pathfinder FB pages I play a little game of creativity where as ask about what kind of character you would make to follow a god. This week I'm looking at Omrataji, Varundi god of Silver, Silverwork, and Silver mining.

Sitting at our theoretical gaming table, our GM turns to us and says, "All of the characters must be followers of Omrataji although they do not need to be divine casters." What character do you make? Who is she? Why has she chosen The Spirit in Silver as her patron? In what ways does she further the God's goals? Why would she be attracted to this beings doctrine?

I'd probably make a Silver Balladeer bard. They believe that "the bright purity of silver makes beautiful music, and its vibrations are also anathema to unnatural creatures." The archetype works quite well with Omrataji. They'd probably be part of the Chaandee society, as they craft instruments with strings of silver.

That's a good one. I wonder what caste musicians fall into in Vudra. I only found a listing for three castes I'd like to see more.

The four castes fill the roles of artisan, priest, scholar,

and warrior. No caste is more powerful or carries with
it higher status than the other three, and each Vudrani
recognizes that the four work together symbiotically—
without any one, the rest would be unable to function to
their fullest potential. Within each caste, however, there
are varying degrees of hierarchy, such as more learned
scholars taking on leadership roles within their caste,
mentoring the younger and weaker, and bearing larger
responsibilities in the community at large.

That's a bit of an odd necro. In any case, my follower of Omrataji is a bolt ace /ranger/warpriest. She's focusing on taking down rakshasas and uses the minotaur double crossbow. (Sadly, there's not really anything out there that focuses on Rakshasas)

She got my GM credit for Wleshwarped Queen, so I was able to make up my own cosmetic mutations. I declared Omrataji had a hand in guiding them, so now her skin and fur looks like actual silver.

Unfortunately she's going to get retired at level 7, as I can't spare the xp for her now that PFS is winding down.

I currently have a level 3, neutral-good, Tengu, Gray Paladin of Omrataji.

The initial, nebulous idea was "hilarious bird-paladin obsessed with shiny objects."

As I've done more reading and mulling over the character it became more about ensuring that commerce benefits all (not just the corrupt few), about the "purity" of silver and silver-like metals (and it's ability to help in the fight against evil), and a general objection to people forced to live in abject poverty. She "works" as a silversmith when there's time or a need for it, and wears lots of small pieces of silver jewelry as part of her devotions. She uses silver weapons and armor (or "counts as silver" materials such as mithril) whenever possible. She makes donations in silver to charities, orphanages, et cetera.

"If everybody had just a little bit of silver, the world wouldn't be such a harsh place." - Taqa (my paladin)

She is still hilariously obsessed with her shinies, but I do think there's more RP depth to Omrataji than his limited portfolio might initially suggest. :)

Yaknow, mirrors have traditionally been made of or with silver. The oldest mirrors were polished silver plates, and modern-era mirrors are a layer of silver on glass.

So, a character arrogant with lots of vanity -- and a mirror -- might really enjoy a religion that worships silver. I picture an elf holding a silver-backed looking glass, explaining to their party, "Yeah, no, I'm totally praying to Omrataji right now in this beautiful silver. Omrataji, you beautiful thing."

Descendant of one of the original Silver Ravens of Kintargo, whose father fled Cheliax before setting down in Vudra. Raised in Vudra with an outlander father who had a thing for silver, Antar naturally gravitated toward veneration of Omrataji. When his father died, his last request of his son was to return to his distant homeland to let any of his surviving family know that he had died with only one regret- that Kintargo hadn't won its freedom.

Taking the less-than-subtle hint, Antar packed his spiked chain along as he booked passage to the distant lands of Avistan.

(Some sort of martial with a focus on doing nasty maneuvers with a spiked chain, and my likely choice of PC if I ever get to play in a Hell's Rebels game instead of running one...)

This was a bizarre necro but I'm super happy to see some more ideas for followers of this deity. One of the one's I did was a Wyrwood with the alt racial trait that had him made from stone instead of wood. He had silver flecks throughout his body.
