Old-Mage Jatembe's Skills

Lost Omens Products

Jatembe's skills have been bothering me because they are way to high for his level. When you subtract all his ability score modifiers and class skill modifiers, his skills look like this:

Bluff +24, Diplomacy +24, Fly +21, Handle Animal +24, Heal +21, Intimidate +24, Knowledge (arcana, dungeoneering, geography, history, nature, planes, religion) +21, Perception +21, Perform (oratory) +24, Sense Motive +22, Spellcraft +21, Stealth +2, Survival +21, Use Magic Device +24

That's 420 skill points, plus it's way more skill points then what his Hit Die allow.

Liberty's Edge

Well, he has a few things that help him have higher skills. Both the beacon of true faith, which provides a constant heroism effect, and the luck stone increase every check. And between the fast learner feat and the being human, Jatembe should have 19 skill ranks a level, which looks exactly like the amount of skills he has maxed out.

The Circlet of Persuasion would have boosted his Cha based skills by +3 each, and he has five such skills. He also has a Headband of Mental Superiority +6, but that is presumably already factored into his 41 intelligence. Maybe we both missed some other magic item or mythic ability that provides other boosts?

His levels alone can give him 19 skill ranks per level (2 for class, 15 for Int, 1 for being human, and 1 favored class bonus) for a total of 380 skill ranks. Maybe somebody else can figure out where those remaining skill bonuses came from?

Being older than Earthfall, presumably.

I can not remember, but I think that he is also Mythic. That would also justify breaking the rules.

Jatembe is...

Spoiler:
Wizard 20 / Archmage 6

He has every right to have out of proportion skills. Who knows what kind of magic he used anyway?

He's not only mythic, he's legendary, He's Garundi Elminster, so he's simply not bound by the rules of PCs.

Remember that Paizo will not hesitate to break it's own rules to get a result it wants.

Liberty's Edge

So taking a look. 19 skill ranks per level allows for:

Bluff 30 - cha 6, 20 ranks, circlet 3, luckstone 1
Diplomacy 30 - cha 6, 20 ranks, circlet 3, luckstone 1
Fly 27 - dex 3, 20 ranks, class skill 3, luckstone 1
Handle Animal 30 - cha 6, 20 ranks, circlet 3, luckstone 1
Heal 28 - wis 7, 20 ranks, luckstone 1
Intimidate 30 - cha 6, 20 ranks, circlet 3, luckstone 1
Kn:arcana 39 - int 15, 20 ranks, class skill 3, luckstone 1
Kn:dungeoneering 39 - int 15, 20 ranks, class skill 3, luckstone 1
Kn:geography 39 - int 15, 20 ranks, class skill 3, luckstone 1
Kn:history 39 - int 15, 20 ranks, class skill 3, luckstone 1
Kn:nature 39 - int 15, 20 ranks, class skill 3, luckstone 1
Kn:planes 39 - int 15, 20 ranks, class skill 3, luckstone 1
Kn:religion 39 - int 15, 20 ranks, class skill 3, luckstone 1
Perception 28 - wis 7, 20 ranks, luckstone 1
Perform (oratory) 30 - cha 6, 20 ranks, circlet 3, luckstone 1
Sense Motive 28 - wid 7, 20 ranks, luckstone 1
Spellcraft 39 - int 15, 20 ranks, class skill 3, luckstone 1
Stealth 5 - dex 3, luckstone 1
Survival 28 - wid 7, 20 ranks, luckstone 1
UMD 30 - cha 6, 20 ranks circlet 3, luckstone 1

So, stealth is one higher than it should be, or at least I can't find where the extra point comes from. Other than that everything else checks out.
