Multi armed character, where do you draw the line?

I think the difference is that in 3.5 the "Multiweapon fighting feats" included IMWF & GMWF... allowing iterative attacks with each off-hand. Pathfinder doesn't have any equivalent iterative multiweapon feats. Just the two-weapon feat chain.

I draw the line at not allowing four-armed races as an available option for PCs, but that's just me.

For what it's worth, the Legendary Planet Player's Guide has a four-armed race, and it's worked out rather well for the game I'm running. ^^

The 10th level Summoner ability, Aspect, allows any race to qualify by growing an additional pair of fully functional arms. Greater Aspect allows a Summoner to have up to six additional arms should he so choose.

Not that it is an optimal choice, far from it. But the option is there. It has been available for years. It only became a debated issue when Paizo released a player race that starts with four arms.

To clarify something here, there is ways for character to gain extra arms, but usually those have rules outliners that make it so the extra limb does not contribute to the attack economy. The main exception to this is Eidolons, who typically gain natural attacks if built "right."

I have been reminded that weapons would not normally be summoned with the eidolon, as it normally does not have these things. (Not something I keep close watch on when I GM, but a valid point, none the less)

As far as two handed weapons being used only in 'off' hands, the rules covering using multiple weapons give modifiers and situations only for using light and one handed weapons in the off hand.

There is no allowance in the rules currently written for penalties for two handed weapons used in the off hand. What would those modifiers be if that was allowed?

I wonder... Suppose your legs are lost, but you are still alive and well. Could you walk on one set of hands?

IMHO, yes if your learned how. Now how a Gm would let you do this is up to them, feat, skill point, free, etc.

Also you movement would be slower (but I could be proven wrong by some youtube video somewhere)

In another thread, I proposed using the progression already there to give a -2 penalty on top of the normal TWF when dual wielding two handed weapons.

Someone pointed out that it is the light weapon that takes away another 2 from the penalties, for a -2/-2.

So the progression, adjusted when this was pointed out, is thus...

Light - takes away 2 of the penalty - -2/-2

One Handed - normal use - -4/-4

Two Handed - Additional -2 - -6/-6

This is a GM call, though, as the current rules did not go into this.
