Aura of Vengeance ruling

Rules Questions

Hi all just got a quick question on the use of the Antipaladin"s Aura of vengeance

As I read the definition I understand the simple mechanics of initiating the Aura and its effects to the allies.
The question I have is : can the allies leave the 10ft ranged from around the Antipaladin after effecting the Smiting of their opponents( as I thought their should be some negative)

We just experienced the absolute encounter breaking power of this ability when placed on a ranger with archery feats she took out a Phoenix in 1and half rounds of fully focused fire at level 12 and then did it again when it arose from its ashes averaged 41 damage per arrow with gravity bow on etc... With DR scrubbed by the Smiting it was slaughter

Thx Ash

Your allies have to activate their smite within 10ft of the Antipaladin but after that they're free to move wherever.
