Help me price an Amulet of Mighty Fists +1 with corrosive weapon property.

Liberty's Edge

Hey everyone,

I want to purchase an Amulet of Mighty Fists +1. This is 4000 GP

Corrosive is a +1 weapon bonus, so that's 2000 GP.

According to the Amulet of Mighty Fists description:

"Special abilities count as additional bonuses for determining the market value of the item, but do not modify attack or damage bonuses."

So my question: if the Amulet of Mighty Fists is a +1 Enhancement bonus AND it costs 4000 GP already, would:
a) the Corrosive count as a +2 costs of 8000 GP AND
b) would I subtract the initial 4000 GP cost from the +2 cost, thus making the grand total for Corrosive Amulet of Mighty Fists: 8000 GP total? (4000 GP for initial cost + 8000 for +2 bonus -4000 for initial cost) = 8000 GP

Help!
Thanks.

It's the same price as an Amulet of Mighty Fists +2, which means the price is 8000 GP.

Scarab Sages

An Amulet of Mighty Fists +2 is 16,000. 8,000 is the construction cost.

So if you don't have an amulet at all right now, the price would be 16,000 GP.

If you are upgrading an existing +1 Amulet of Mighty Fists, the price would be 12,000 GP.

Though, an Amulet of Mighty Fists does not need to have a +1 enhancement on it before you add a special property like Corrosive. You can just have a Corrosive Amulet of Mighty Fists, which would not have the +1 bonus, but would only cost 4,000 GP.

I'm just going to point out the Deliquescent Gloves here. They do almost the same thing, except they occupy another slot, effect weapons, and cost a flat 8000 GP that won't increase the cost of upgrading to a +2 enhancement bonus. Unless you're already using your gloves slots, it's a much better way to get an extra 1d6 damage. Of course it doesn't build to corrosive burst if that's what you're going for.

Scarab Sages

I thought about mentioning those. It also depends on the build for the character. If it's a Monk, the gloves work great. If he's a natural attack build and looking to get Corrosive on a bite or a gore, I don't think the gloves work for those. Just claws. Also, if this is for an animal companion, it would need to be the amulet.

Pay attention, too, to the Unchained Monk Style Strikes. Some of them, like the popular Flying Kick, specify that the first attack needs to be something specific. In the case of Flying Kick, it's a kick (imagine that), and the Deliquescent Gloves won't work on it. They'll work for the rest of your attacks, though, as long as you can punch. I run into that restriction on my Monk with the Gloves most fights.

I think the bigger question might be why put Corrosive on the Amulet at all? The +1d6 special abilities aren't that great in the long run compared to other things you can get at the +1 level.

Thank you. This is VERY clear. I appreciate it.
