Brawling Armor Errata

Rules Questions

So, I run a Brawler that I took the Brawling enchantment to his armor, which has since been errata'd.

My question is: If I sold my current armor (or maybe I can trade it in for a full refund due to errata) and then purchase a new armor type, how much would it cost to put Brawling on the new armor?

Lets Assume It was Leather Armor:
Armor Cost/+1 Enhancement/+2 Enhancement/+3 Enhancement?

So effectively he would have +2 Brawling Leather Armor?

If I am doing my calculation correctly, that would put the cost of +2 Brawling Leather Armor at 9010 gold, or better yet, a set of +2 Brawling Mithril Chain at 14,150 gold. Does my math look correct?

Also, as a side note when I was made a Venture Agent my post name was changed to my actual name with a title behind it, but now I see it has reverted back to my forum alias. Any reason for that?

Brawling is now a +3 bonus. So +2 Brawling Armor would be an effective +5 bonus. Also, the leather armor has to be masterwork first. So:

+2 Brawling Leather Armor = 10 + 150 (masterwork) + 25,000 (Cost of +5 total enhancements) = 25,160 gp

+2 Brawling Mithral Chainmail = 150 + 4,000 (cost of mitral medium armor) + 25,000 (Cost of +5 total enhancements) = 29,150gp

So pretty pricey. The cheapest you could make this work would be +1 Brawling armor, but that's still a total of +4. The leather would be 16,160gp in that case.

For your forum name, I'm not positive, but I think it only lists the Venture Officer titles in the PFS forums. Since this is posted in the Rules forum, it's using your default alias.

The PFS titles are only used in the various PFS Forums.

You can sell back your Brawling armor at full price, because it was errata'd. Buying a new set would cost 16,000gp plus the cost of whatever masterwork armor you enchanted it on.

And medium armor cannot have brawling on it as per the faq

If you want brawling on something with higher AC, elven chain is the best (yet pricier) bet.

That is brilliant. I never considered that.

That would be perfect for my Brawler, as he's unlikely to ever have more than a +2 or +3 Dex bonus anyway. Now, to figure out how to save up 21,150gp. He's 3rd level now, so if he invests in a high-yield mutual fund...

EDIT: Honestly, I'd given up on trying to afford Brawling Armor after the errata. If I just try to add it to my +1 Chain Shirt, it's still more expensive than Monk's Robes or upgrading a Belt of Mighty Strength to +4. Adding Elven Chain on top of the cost means Brawling armor is probably going to be an end of career item. Of course Monk's Robes and Brawler come with their own set of issues, but assuming they actually work for the Brawler, it's a tough call. With Favored Class Bonus increases to Unarmed Strike progression, the robes would be on average +2 damage and +1 AC (assuming everything works). The belt would be +1 to-hit/+1 dmg.

So 13,000 for the robes and 12,000 for the belt upgrade. 25,000 compared to 21,150.

Robes/Belt: (average) +1 to-hit/+3 dmg +1 AC
Brawling Elven Chain: +2 to-hit/+2 dmg +2 AC

It's probably actually worth it to get the armor first. Especially given the unknowns around the Monk's Robes. Looks like I need to stop upgrading my +1 Chain Shirt and start saving for Elven Chain for real.

I gave up on brawling armor and still wanting to afford other things. I can understand the reasoning of why they up the price for the enchantment, I just wish they took off the light armor restriction so folks can shuck out the gold for brawling AND still could afford a decent AC. As if folks punching real well in full plate is gonna mess up the brawling aesthetic.

I would settle for light armor if brawling allowed a Monk to Flurry and Fast Movement in armor.

Monks don't get nice things!

Sohei can flurry in light armor - and unarmed strike is in the monk weapon group.

I am aware, but that doesn't help a lot of builds.

For example if I wanted to make a Maneuver Master 2 / Lore Warden for a Dirty Trick focused build and didn't want to use Wisdom for AC.

I think a +3 Enchantment is sufficent to wear light armor instead.
