Can extend be used on infernal healing? I would think so.

Can I touch up to 6 people with infernal healing? It is a 1-round-action and I hope one could use it in that way but I am asking to be sure.

I play society so bare that in mind. Thanks! :)

The duration of Infernal healing is not concentration, instantaneous, or permanent, so it can be extended.

Infernal Healing wrote:

School conjuration (healing) [evil]; Level cleric/oracle 1, magus 1, sorcerer/wizard 1, summoner 1, witch 1

CASTING

Casting Time 1 round
Components V, S, M (1 drop of devil blood or 1 dose of unholy water)
EFFECT

Range touch
Target creature touched
Duration 1 minute
Saving Throw Will negates (harmless); Spell Resistance yes (harmless)

DESCRIPTION

You anoint a wounded creature with devil’s blood or unholy water, giving it fast healing 1. This ability cannot repair damage caused by silver weapons, good-aligned weapons, or spells or effects with the good descriptor. The target detects as an evil creature for the duration of the spell and can sense the evil of the magic, though this has no long-term effect on the target’s alignment.

Target says creature touched, not up to six creatures touched, Infernal healing only effects 1 person.

No. The target is "creature (singular) touched. You'd need a mass version or something to do what you're talking about.

Extend Spell metamagic says "A spell with a duration of concentration, instantaneous, or permanent is not affected by this feat."

Infernal Healing has a duration of 1 minute.

So Yes, Extend Spell metamagic can be used on Infernal Healing.

However, the TARGET of Infernal Healing is "Creature touched". Singular.
If it was a multi-target spell, like Chill Touch it would say "Targets creature or creatures touched (up to one/level)" or similar.

EDIT: Gninja'd while making links

Extend will work to make it last 2 minutes instead of 1 minute, its honestly not worth it because you could simply cast it a second time, which would be 2 first level spells instead of 1 2nd level spell. And beyond that, the best thing to do is use a wand.

And all that aside, Infernal Healing only allows one creature as the target, so no you can't touch multiple creatures with it.

I was thinking of getting a rod of extend spell to avoid making infernal healing take up the 2nd level spot. My main deal is summoning monsters so in higher levels I will need more to do with my 1st level spells than pulling up fodder.

Infernal healing is (ideally) an out of combat healing spellused because it's arcane and cost effective. It's not really something to build around in combat.

Yeah, regardless of whether its cure light wounds or infernal healing neither is effective in combat.

Cure Light Wounds out of combat will usually heal you up a bit quicker than Infernal Healing because 1d8+1 is 5.5hp per casting for CLW. While Infernal Healing will always heal 10hp of damage, it takes 10 rounds to do so. Neither is effective in combat.

Either is best done simply as a wand, I wouldn't bother wasting money on a rod of extend for it. You can use it 3 times per day, and it costs 3000 gold. For 3000gp you can buy 4 wands of infernal healing. That's 200 castings of Infernal Healing which will heal 2000 hp of damage.

With your rod of extend you only heal for 20 hp 3 times per day instead of 10. If you need more than 60hp of healing in a day you would still need to heal with some other means. Not to mention actually having to prepare the spell in spell slots instead of just using a wand.

Overall just using a normal wand is best in terms of flexibility when it comes to healing. Extend is honestly a real waste on it.

As for what to do with 1st level spell slots....what class are you exactly? I can probably make some recommendations for how to use your spell slots more effectively.

Or even 3 pearls of power instead of the rod.

I'm not a prepared caster. I'm a sorcerer.

Runestones of Power are for you then. :)

Alright, as a sorcerer there are plenty of great spells to cast over using your spell slots with Infernal Healing.

Shield and Mage armor are both great. You're probably already using mage armor, but your allies might use it if any of them are unarmored or use light armor (depending on level).

Liberating Command is great for getting people out of a grapple.

Protection from Evil is always great, even if just for the protection from mental control.

Feather Fall is great.

Here's the other thing though, you're a spontaneous spell caster. Learning Infernal Healing as a spell known isn't terrible, but it's something you would mostly do at low level. It's not bad to keep it in reserve just in case, but you probably shouldn't actually cast it out of your spell slots unless you really run into a SHTF situation.
