I am willing to give Paizo my homebrew campaign information

Paizo General Discussion

As the title suggests, i have a homebrew setting and i was wondering if its possible to send it to Paizo for use in upcoming modules or books or what have you. I don't really care if i make money off it, i've just been told the information is extensive and i figured it could go to some use aside from sitting in my folders.

I hope this is the right messaging board for this, its my first time posting here. Please let me know if there is a way to do this, or if you are interested.

I suggest setting up a free website and hosting the information there. ^^ With a moderate investment of time, you could make a nice resource for the setting.

Whatever you do, please do not send your setting information to Paizo or any 3PP without their express permission. There are some legal concerns about that. However, you could submit ideas to 3PP's who are specifically looking for pitches on certain topics, and may be able to convert your content to something there.

Okay, thank you for replying so quickly.

No problem.

Ah, and even if you plan to distribute it for free, you should look over the terms of the Open Game License if you're using anything from the game (like, say, the names of classes or abilities). If you've added any of Paizo's content, you should also check the Pathfinder Compatibility License. Even for free stuff, the legal bits are important. XD Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about that.

(I am not a lawyer myself, but some people here are, and people like Liz Courts - the Community Manager - can give you definitive answers for questions about either of those licenses and what you should and should not do when releasing your content.)

As a general rule, Paizo won't look at unsolicited material (be it novels, sourcebooks, adventures or anything else). It's a policy to protect them both from being swamped by submissions and also to provide legal protections:

One potential scenario is that someone sends Paizo an adventure which they choose not to use. Then a few years later a similar-ish adventure comes out and the disgruntled author accuses them of theft of that creative work. By never reading unsolicited submissions, they are protected from that.

(I understand you weren't necessarily looking to sell them anything, but by making the policy with no exceptions it is better protection for them).

This is actually covered in our FAQ. We don't accept or look at any unsolicited materials. This FAQ is probably worth taking a gander at also.

Howdy and welcome Shinoruka! :)

There is an official fanzine, Wayfinder (free!), that publishes articles using the Golarion setting. The next upcoming issue is looking for articles themed around the Iron Gods adventure path. If you have an idea(s) that might fit the theme, you can check out the submission guidelines and info thread. If you decide to submit, competition to get in is usually pretty fierce, so submit your best, most polished work. While Wayfinder isn't official canon, it is read by Paizo developers, and several Wayfinder writers have gone on to paid freelancing for third-party publishers and Paizo itself.

(You can find more info in the PathfinderWiki about the history of the country of Numeria and the Iron Gods AP.)

You could always create a wiki page or something, the paste the link in an appropriate thread.
