pretty set on brawler and a divine caster. torn between cleric and warpriest.

build suggestions?

leaning toward cleric (pilgrim archetype) for community domain and because the concept is a wandering holy man that's all about dwarven solidarity who spends most of his time in taverns eating, drinking, socializing, drinking, being merry, drinking, and quelling brawls with his fists. probably not going evangelist because there's already a bard.

thanks in advance!

Have you maybe thought of Inquisitor with maybe the Preacher Archetype?

i have not. i was also leaning cleric because i want the party to have access to 9th level divine magic, but i'll check it out.

Definitely cleric of those two. Reduced cleric casting prevents you from filling the role the cleric list is designed for.

Inquisitor has some utility that isn't tied to keeping up with the bestiary harmful effect schedule and gives a couple more skills, which are nice. Their nova is a lot better as well. Cleric is arguably better because it's a full caster, but inquisitor does bring something useful to the table.

I'd go cleric. Every party should either have a cleric, a witch with the healing patron who picks up condition removal spells religiously, or a combination of other divine casters who can provide all condition removal. (For example druids are very inadequate healers, but they do have remove disease on schedule which is the one hole a shaman can't fill.) If you're a cleric you'll know that someone has all the removes and restores as early as possible so if you're considering cleric as an option you should generally take it unless you know there's already another cleric in your group.

Inquisitor does get some pretty nice combat abilities for the Brawler - bane is great with Brawler's flurry - and I love the utility.

But if you're the only healer then the party will really appreciate a cleric. I tried to be the party healer as an Inquisitor (our primary healer dropped out of the game) and trying to fill that role was frustrating.

I don't think you necessarily need access to all condition removal spells as soon as they're available but you don't want to be struggling to deal with poison at level 10.

thanks guys! inquisitor (preacher especially; heck yes, rerolls!) would be cool, but looks like cleric will be the best choice for party comp and theme i think.

Just to be up front I have a submission in the same recruitment. With that said I agree you should stay with cleric 9 levels of divine casting is great.

Have you thought about Shield Champion Brawler Archetype, I think it is very dwarfish.

yeah, i recognize you man! what's up? and yeah, i thought about it, but i'm just really feeling some fist fighting. it was almost too late the moment i decided brawler because a little intro scene popped into my head, and it's just taken me this long to realize his concept and image had already solidified in my mind.

brawlic it is! or would it be clawler?

You might also consider unchained monk. It's quite brawler-like.

i really do need to look over it to see what's changed, but i was trying to steer away from mysticism so went brawler instead. maybe the unmonk is less mystic though? also, someone was singing the praises of the brawlers versatility in another thread and i thought a nice melee support divine caster was in order.

I like brawler because you get to wear armor and ... well dwarves like armor!

Brawlers are very versatile I played one. The only short coming they have is damage, They don't have any class abilities that allow you to burst damage. (like rage, smite, favored enemy, studied target, Challenge, etc..)

I like the idea of dwarven fist in the face! Sound like fun, Good Luck!

I like the idea of a brawler with the War domain: 2 different ways to get access to temporary feats!

Talk about versatile!
