I'm bored, and I like sports, but there's no place devoted to ALL sports, just football, and I can't watch that anymore because it feeds my seasonal depression, although officially, I'm blaming liberal concussion guilt. :-)

Anywhoo, the usual Captain Yesterday rule set

1) Be excellent to each other

2) Keep trash talking to a minimum, and light hearted, don't get carried away with it, and must include smiley or laughy faces so everyone knows you're joking. :-D

3) ALL sports are welcome.

4) feel free to brag about your child's exploits, or your own for that matter, if you're still playing sports.

5) ALL time travellers welcome, especially if they have any future box scores.

Still can't believe the Knicks traded for Derrick Rose.

Are the Cubs still tearing shit up. :-)

#FreeBrady! #EndGoodell'sTyranny!!

Yeah, I'm an NFL fan (less so since Concussion and research on the doctor who confirmed CTE). And a Patriots fan.

Not much of a college football fan, though, but that's just because University of Tennessee hasn't put anything solid together since my freshman year of college . . . .

The rest of the sports . . . . They just don't hook me.

Except curling. lol

I hate noon Twins games because people flood the skyways and its hard getting around here at work. Although, it's a little bittersweet since the window in my row looks over Target Field!

I like that they are playing the Phillies, because since its an away game for the Phils, my commute home will be less aggravating.

140 million over six years for Andrew Luck.

I'm not surprised.

Of course, the real number to look at is the 87 million guaranteed, he'll rework it or get cut before seeing the back end of that contract.

I wonder if A-Rod will get cut this summer or after the season.

The Dodgers are only six games back in the NL West.... they need to lose more.

Or my boys need to figure out what to do about the A's. Yeesh.

But at least they aren't the Angels.

The Angels are still a train wreck right.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

The Angels are an unmitigated dumpster fire- as I wish all Los Angeles Teams would be!

(In my family, we have some very simple rules-no rooting for L.A.- ever- National League is best League, College Hoops > NBA, and your two favorite college teams in any sport are IU and whoever's playing Purdue.)

What's your team then.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

MLB: Giants (it's been a nice decade!), and I sort of adopted the Cardinals during my time in the Midwest as a Plan B.
NFL: Raiders (... not such a nice decade) with a brief stint rooting for the 49ers since the Raiders went to L.A.
NCAA: Indiana University, although Cal Berkely's rugby team is an exception.
NBA: -
NHL: Vancouver(but I have a soft spot in my heart for Detroit as well)
Rugby Union: New Zealand, Scotland, France
Rugby League: Same as Union
Arctic Winter Games: Alaska, Yukon

...

Should I stop now?

For me,

NFL: Seahawks and Packers.
NBA: Bucks (boo to the Zombie Sonics! Boo!)
MLB: N/A
NHL: N/A
College anything: Badgers, Huskies, or whoever is playing against the SEC.

Take that Zombie Sonics!

I don't even care if Durant helps the Warriors, although he probably will.

I wish I liked sports. I'd probably have more to talk about during awkward social gatherings.

There's always the weather. :-)

Talk about whatever you want Cal, it's all good with me. :-)

70 Hot Dogs! How in the hell does one person eat 70 hot dogs.

It boggles the mind.

lol thanks. I'm from Arkansas, where there's little else to talk about at family gatherings like today (Independence Day for those from other countries who might not know) aside from the Razorbacks (though the Arkansas State University Red Wolves are probably just as good though they don't get the press), huntin', fishin', muddin', four wheelin', and church. I've been married into my wife's family for 25 years and I still feel totally out of place at any holiday gathering.

NFL: 1) Patriots, 2) whoever's playing against Dallas, 3) Green Bay
NBA: n/a
MLB: n/a
NHL: n/a
College anything: 1) University of Tennessee, 2) non-'Bama SEC, 3) whoever's playing against the Nebraska Cornshucks (except Alabama)

RE: anti-SEC sentiments -- Haters!!

I wouldn't call it hate, sports is naturally inclined so you root for the underdog and deride success.

You yourself did it by singling out 'Bama.

I myself root against The Ohio State University.

In fact, my whole argument for why I don't care for the SEC was because it was "overrated" which is, as recent history will say, a silly argument. :-D

I love the Raiders now because Carr, Crabtree, and Cooper won me a whole lotta fantasy games. Also, its great to see a team climb from the bottom. Hopefully they climb a lot higher! In fact, fantasy has changed the entire way I watch the game. I don't really hate any team and will never be a lifelong fan of any either. My buddies still think I am a Giants superfan; to be fair Odell Bekham jr. won me a lotta fantasy too :)

Which I totally get. Though, for me, my discrimination against 'Bama is rooted in my being proud of being a Tennesseean, and the UT-UA rivalry (if it can really even be called such anymore) is one of the better ones. Or used to be.

The Crimson Tide's continued success only exacerbates my underdog complex. :D

As for fantasy football . . . . I'll go with Darth Obstinus' response to being asked if he played any: "No. I play real Dungeons and Dragons." >:D

Los Gigantes. Many victories, Most in MLB right now. Much glory.

Endless Season. Still time to fumble it all. CUUUUUUUUUUUURSES.

I don't always choose hate, but when I do, its against Patriot fans.

Stay thirsty my AFC East.

Oh, I'm sure they will, Pan. I'm sure they will.

Spoiler:
No one realizes it, but Hurricane Katrina was a test-firing of Darth Belichick's superweapon. Commissioner Goofball hasn't yet figured out how he can pad his bank account with that information, so he settled for fraudulent judgment against Brady, the Emperor's Hand. The Banana Football Republic has made its critical error . . . .

this is all said in good fun, not to downplay any bad things

The Sarah Sjöström cheer squad yesterday.

That was some Hall of Fame game last night! I was on the edge of my seat!

I bet they could've melted the paint more personally, but then the officials had to put the kabash on it.

Damn No Fun League amiright.

Tim Tebow wants to be a baseball player when he grows up, now. :-)

My favorite part is the baseball writers bragging about how he wouldn't understand "the complexities of baseball"

I guess junk scratching and spitting chew in a Gatorade bottle is a lot more competitive than he realized. :-)

Captain,

I always thought part of being a baseball player was knowing when to not beat up the other players.

That's as far down the Tebow road i care to go. I think he's way overhyped as an athlete, and probably a person.

But you know, that's just my opinion. :-)

No idea about him personally other than he's not as bad as some others I know.

But yes, less thinking about Tebow, the better.

Post... All-Star... Slide... Continues. MIAMI?!You schmucks couldn't handle MIAMI?!

Try rooting for the Brewers, or Mariners.

I'm pretty sure they started sliding in April and haven't looked back.

Though, honestly, I haven't looked since about April. :-)

Still haven't watched any Olympics, turns out I don't watch television, on the television. :-)

Even if I wanted to, it's so deeply engrained, I forget it's even for that.

We use our t.v. for video games and our computer for t.v. :-)

Bet this rugby woman used to hide up trees and jump at her friends when she was a kid.

Are you following the Olympics?

Not really, I heard the swimming and women's gymnastics are insane this year, but I've been kind of busy, and I forget it's on until I check ESPN in the morning to see what's happening.

R.I.P. John Saunders, a titan and a trailblazer, he'll be missed.

But isn't this the wacky world of sports?

It's the world olympics! There's "world" and "sports" already... And there's plenty of wacky going on this year as well! XD

Absolutely! Go nuts, I'm all for everyone sharing their Olympic games moments or favorite sports, I hope to catch some this weekend.

Maybe.

Love the winter games though, and can't wait for the summer games to add skateboarding. :-)
