Front line savages! Barbarian or Bloodrager. Whose the better savage?!

My party is full of distance classes and we don't really have anyone on the front lines. I'm going to make that character so I'd like to know who is the better savage? Bloodrager or Barbarian?

Go bloodrager, specifically aberrant bloodrager. Go human, take power attack and raging vitality first level, combat reflexes third level, Pushing Assault fifth level, grab a falchion and long arm when you can, and engage in reach tactics. This will not only let you wack things really hard up close, it will also let you smack things more often as they rush to you and you can also run back and smack them off of your distance based partners. Between the long arm spell and the aberrant bloodline you can have a range of 5-15 feet easily.

Why a falchion? 18-20 crit range. You'll compensate for the lack of power attack bonus with that and you force them to save or be staggered for their next round, preventing full attacks and charges.

Go bloodrager into dragon disiple, get feral combat training on claws and bite, cheat your way to dragon style and dragon ferocity, get power attack and you're left with more damage than you probably need. You'll probably have around 12-15 ac, but the extra hp you get from raging will probably (ish) keep you alive just long enough to put down whatever you're fighting before you go down yourself.

Interesting dynamics

Reach fighting is best done either when you're the only melee guy or when the other melee guys also do reach tactics as its greatest weakness is other guys coming in and ruining your method. With your team being super ranged focused, you won't have that problem.

How does it work in cramped hallways? or when surrounded?

You say surrounded, I say free hits on the approach. And cramped hallways mean it's harder for the enemy to get around you. Just make sure you advance slowly out of combat and use the corners to your advantage.

You want a situation where reach fighting ain't so hot? Try rough terrain where you can't step back, and even then the bloodrager cheats since they reach fight with a flachion.

Your weapon isn't Reach, so you just pull your arms back in and fight normally when you can't use Reach.

Surprised nobody has yet made the case for Barbarian and Rage Powers, though.

Rubber Conan best Conan!

...that sounded a lot less dirty in my head.

[insert joke about backline having enough protection with rubber conan]

But on a more serious note, magic Conan has wings, magic Conan wins.
