Bonded Staff + Shillelagh?

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

Is a Bonded item inherently considered a Magic item with regards to the requirements of the Shillelagh spell?

I ask because the Bonded Witch archetype gains Shillelagh at 2nd level if she takes a Staff for her Bonded item.

I've always kinda assumed the bonded item is considered magical, at least in that respect, but this makes me wonder.

Why would it be? I know of no text that defines it that way. If bonded items were comsidered magical, wouldn't that have to be taken into account when enchanting them? This is never mentioned.

Then it is a misunderstanding on my end. Thanks for the doublecheck.

There is a sense in which it is magical. It does radiate magic.

Arcane Bond: Can you identify an item that is the subject of an arcane bond from a wizard with detect magic or a similar affect, even if the item contains no other enchantments?

Since the arcane bond class feature, when tied to an item, grants a wizard the ability to cast any one spell, it is safe to assume that it does radiate magic when it is the subject of detect magic. The aura power would be directly related to the highest level spell it could be used to cast, but there would be no school associated with the item unless it was further enchanted.

I suppose it would be a GM call whether the Shillelagh spell's requirement that the staff be "non-magical" would be violated by this.

Liberty's Edge

I recall a dev post saying that a bonded item detect as magic ad it perform a magical function (it allow you to cast 1 spell/day).
