Boreal Sorcerer / Winter Witch? Could this work?

Advice

Trying to think if this multiclass idea would work. Both classes and archetypes would strengthen each other but at the same time, you would have to figure out which one to level in the most to get any real benefits from such a combination

Then again you could be able to get the winter witch prestige class easily by taking a level in witch and then take a few levels in sorcerer before jumping over to the prestige class right?

I'm just brainstorming here so any advice would be useful. Thank you.

You can go Witch 1 / Sorcerer X into Winter Witch (PrC) but remember that the Winter Witch PrC ONLY advances Witch levels, unlike most PrCs which say you can choose an Arcane Spellcasting class.

I've built a Cold Themed Witch before and I've done:
Witch 5 (for 3rd level spells)
Sorcerer 1 (Crossblooded Dip for Cold Dragon and Boreal)
then Winter Witch (PrC) the rest of the way.

You end up behind casting unfortunately (2 levels) but you have solid Hexes still and very nice cold spells (especially with Elemental and Greater Focuses).

Even having the ability to cast Shield a few times a day is nice (from Sorcerer), and the Cantrips.

A very interesting concept. How did the character run? Just curious here.

In Pathfinder a multiclass character is generally weaker than a single class character of the same level. Some builds may benefit from dipping into another class, but even that is usually only for a level, or two at most. Casters especially full casters are weakened more than martial classes. Classes with a lot of level dependent abilities like inquisitor or paladins are also affected more adversely than a pure martial.

If you are looking for the right combination of classes to get the most bang for your buck stick with a single class.

A lot of damage and some really neat utility with Rime spell and the Hex that allows you to turn any spell into [Cold]. Lots of Big Blasts.

It also had some neat uses by turning spells such as Bestow Curse into [Cold] to capitalize on the (Greater) Elemental Focus.

I had fun really, though the staggered spell levels sort of suck at first, but you get used to it (and still have Hexes to play with!)

Make sure to Magical Knack to not lose too much in terms of CL.
