Bloodborn PC Powerlevel

Advice and Rules Questions

Hello,
I would like to play as a Bloodborn (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/3rd-party-races/lost-spheres-publishing/bloo dborn). We are using ~ 10RP and a 15 Point Buy. As i am quite new to the game, I would like to ask how strong this race is, when compared to other races with about 10 RP?

Silver Crusade

Linkified for you :3
(You can hyperlink stuff by putting the url after the = in this: [ url=]Flavore text goes here[ /url] ,without the spaces)

I don't care for the Sourcerunes, but the major thing is Conflicted Soul. A cumulative -1 to all d20 rolls if you take more than one level in any given class? And if it goes past your highest "mental statistic" (I'm assuming they mean attribute) you go insane and unplayable? Unless you use a a Variant of VMC and give up half your feats?

That's messed up.

So to answer your question OP, weak. Very weak.

As far as I read it, Conflicted Soul only applies the penalty if you're entirely singleclassed.
A Magus 15/Fighter 1 would have no penalty.
In addition, the Sourcerunes allow switching the spellcasting ability modifier to DEX, which is ridiculously strong.
I think this is a bit overpowered.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, what you have is to opposed racial abilities, the Sourcerunes allow you to change your casting stat (good for casters) but you get a penalty if you don't multiclass (bad for casters).

Odd, and a bit silly to be honest.

Well the penalty is only if you remain single classed, you get the penalty. If you are planning on a 2nd level dip or 2 class character, then that penalty never really comes into play.

I don't especially like that approach - normally Pathfinder is the carrot not the stick. But for the right kind of character it works. I played one for 5 levels, and it was pretty fun.... but then I loved the Illumian from 3.x; which this basically is a variation of, mechanically.

Silver Crusade

Okies, yeah, I originally had read it as if you had more levels in one class than others then you took the penalty.

Still, annoying to the point of turning me off from the race.

The entire race is based around the question of "how badly can I abuse just picking a new casting stat?". And if you want to know the answer to that question, just look at the Scarred Witch Doctor.

Oh yeah, 4 extra feats in exchange for your FCB is pretty good too.

Okay, Thanks for the answers. I think i might just check back with my GM and ask him and I'll tell him the race is a bit stronger than the core ones. I hope it wont be too much of a problem since we arent powergaming much and so i probably wont choose ridicusly OP combinations... And even if i do i'll just be careful not to overshadow anyone else^^
