Kickstarter is not like Patreon, your money is only taken once, at the end of the campaign. As a result, Kickstarter is usually used to fund a single project, while Patreon is more often used to support a series of projects or to support an ongoing work. So yeah, any money you pledge now will only be taken once the project is over, and that's it.

Thank you, Luthorne.

No problem! Both are good crowdfunding services, so I'm happy to explain the difference!

I was about to post something about preferring Patreon to Kickstarter because Patreon is "safer" -- generally, the people using the latter to fund themselves have already proven what they are doing and are offering to provide more of the same for enough money.

Then it occurred to me that the people behind this project have indeed proven themselves, so I went over to the Kickstarter page to make a pledge before coming back here.

WE HAVE 100 BACKERS!

This means that all backers who've pledged $35 or more to the Kickstarter will receive the Dynastic Races Compendium rolled out to them as its finished, rather than having to wait until the very end when it's done.

I've thought about doing an Everyman Gaming / Alex Augunas Patreon, but I have no iea what I'd offer to people with it.

New page, new link to Dynastic Races Compendium Kickstarter :)

Bakeneko 0HD PC race? Tanuki 0HD PC race? Kappa PC 0HD race? Dynastic ghosts/haunts? Augunas' Everyalien Gaming Starfinder races?

Edit: Sorcerer and bloodrager linnorm bloodlines?

I'm still eyeing that $100 level with the character pictures, but those who got to it first sure aren't budging, lol.

I actually have a home race called the nashi that are sort of a combination of tanuki and Rocket Racoon. XD A picture of one actually appears in Everyman Unchained: Skills and Options.

I'm not sure what I would want to do for my Patreon. The thing about making new content is less about writing; I can do that just fine. Its more about art, which is by far the most expensive cost of my creating a new product.

Now the kickstarter is painfully close to being funded: $3990!

Edit: Annnnddddd Funded! There's plenty of time left too, so now we should be getting a bunch of stretch goals :)

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

Congratulations!

Indeed. Hoping we hit lots of stretch goals.

I'm hoping that it gets to the point where Tengu (a yet to be shown stretch goal) could be added in :)

I would LOVE to reach them. They don't start unlocking until $10,000 though, so we're going to need some serious push to reach them.

Hey, you made it! Well done!

Thank you! I think we can still climb a bit further up the Stretch Goal ladder. We still have time! We can make it!

Take whatever you took in the first day. You'll make half that much in the last 48 hours, easy. :)

I hope that is the case, because things have slowed down a bit again. Or maybe kickstarters just tend to move faster on weekends? Hmmm.

Sorry, I've done a few kickstarters before, but this is the first time I've watched the numbers fairly closely XD

The Grimoire of Lost Souls hit a slow point around this time too. It just had a longer glide period at the start.

Honestly, though, this slow glide is the most exciting part. The initial burst is the fanbase you already had, and the end is a bunch of procrastinators. This slow trickle in the middle is a business growing its customer base, pure and simple.

Kick some butt, man!

We got our first stretch goal last night! Next one is at $4,850, which is just $330 away!

It is a little saddening that it doesn't look like there is any way we will reach that point, but at least Tengu are probably going to get a good amount of background from Paizo eventually. The Tengu seem to be their favorite Dragon Empires race.

I'm hoping that we at least hit the "More Archetypes" goal ;)

We've got just over half a week left in the Kickstarter and we're almost at the next stretch goal. Now's a perfect time to join in!

Wow, suddenly the Dynastic Hero tier has all opened up. I could switch to that to get a solo character illustration, but then I would get fewer pdfs. Plus, it would put things further away from the next stretch goal... *dilemma!*

In the future, I would suggest that the tiers be designed to directly build off of one another, or to use add-ons to avoid these sorts of situations ;)

I'll just grab that tier for now with the same pledge, and mess with it depending on how close things are for the various stretch goals.

In retrospect, it is bad that a slot in that tier opened up because it doesn't look like the last guy increased his pledge. Come on, we need to get more stretch goals! ;)

It really is a Catch-22, though. Having add-ons makes it so people can build on the tier they've got. That's what I did in the Pact Magic kickstarter. But having too many add-ons makes it confusing to manage on my end and for backers to pledge to because things aren't spelt out.

However, with this Kickstarter people seem to be picking the lower goals for the PDF and just sticking there. Can't say for certain, but maybe after a couple Kickstarters and EveryBundles the higher tiers aren't all that exciting. Its an interesting problem that doesn't really have an easy solution.

There are many more people joining in now that there is only one day remaining. Seems like it might reach the 3rd stretch goal :)

Hope so! I would love to provide more archetypes to everyone.

14 hours remain....

Yay! Success! We even got the 4th stretch goal in the end. Too bad we didn't get the Bonus Articles (Kybui!) or Tengu, but overall things went pretty well I think.

Now I just need to hope that all the other character art people don't *also* ask for kitsune. I seriously don't have any characters for the other races yet since Tengu didn't get added, lol.

Don't count the bonus articles out just yet. They could still happen. I'd very much like to see them in the book too, and with some sacrifice and clever budgeting it *could* happen.

It might also be impossible. We'll just have to wait and see!

Glad to hear that there is still a chance that we could see those articles :)

Now that I've typed up that overly detailed description of my character, I have this urge to see if I can actually create an updated miniature that fits him. I could probably get the basic design from Hero Forge, and try and craft on seven tails or so using green stuff. Hmmmmm....

That would be cool!

Making *actual* nine tailed kitsune isn't TOO hard. Its making them nine-tailed *and* good-looking that's tricky.

I think the trick is that I have to sculpt the tails separately from the body and then attach them afterwards. In my previous attempts (which came out alright at least) I ran out of space to work with real fast with just six tails and the body getting in the way.

I suppose I shouldn't JUST talk about the kitsune since they are only 1/4th of the book. I really do need to play a Nagaji or Samsaran at some point. Maybe a Nagaji Draconic Bloodrager when the new player's companion comes out.

Edit: I guess part of the issue I have with those races is that there is barely any information about them, so I don't find them interesting. Luckily this kickstarter should change that ;)
