I was going to link to Radiohead as a musical interlude, on account of them having a futuristic sound.

But, uh, yeah, they've uh, really embraced the dystopian side of futuristic haven't they.

I guess, i shouldn't be surprised. :-)

I'm going to put it up anyway, it's a great song. :-)

I think now is a good time to hang out in space for awhile.

For reasons...

I like space!

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Hanging out in space is illogical...friggin' morons.

A lot!

Also, I may start investing in extraterrestrial real estate!

So this is the party in space huh? I thought it would be bigger for some reason and more naked green dancing alien women. No matter I can find something to do around here.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm pretty sure naked dancing green alien women are easily found with even a cursory internet search.

I don't have the energy to go looking right now.

In space, no-one can see you nuuude.

On Barsoom, things are quite different. Intergalactic bums ahoy!

Technically, it would only be interplanetary. Hypothetically, of course, it could be intergalactic, but we don't know that for sure. We can only say interplanetary, at least in certain terms. :D

OK so I need to find the starfighter equivalent of a jeep. Any suggestions? I was thinking something like an ARC 170 but im open to something unique.

UNSC Pelican Dropship.

Also, just found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGB-f8N-oqQ

The answer is always Y-Wing or Milano.

Just remember to drill it into Spunkmeyer's head to maintain ship integrity and keep the hatches closed.

I just love that Nathen Filion is so clearly that one dude.

Ahem: Nathan Filion in a Y-Wing. Wearing a suit that kind of looks like a mini-Gundam. Enjoy, Freehold. Enjoy. :D

Hmmm... Y-Wing = Jeep?

Jeep: Time proven 4x4, fun to drive, Sturdy/Rugged, poor economy, If used as intended it can start to look scruffy and require regular maintenance.

A Jeep really IS like a Y-Wing!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I meant that the Y-Wing and Milano are the best two ships out there, not that they're necessarily like Jeeps.

Although Jeeps are pretty f~#+ing cool, even if they constantly won't start or break down when you're being chased by a bunch of goons.

You got your franchises mixed up. UNSC is from Halo.

Aren't they the ones that always crash at the beginning, leaving you and your unit stranded in enemy territory.

Admittedly, I've only played Halo 3.

In space, no one can hear you make a cheesy cliche.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Now I'm hungry for a cheesy quiché.

I always have ingredients for spontaneous pie making handy.

For instance, at anytime today I could make: Cheese and Bacon Quiche, Cherry Pie, or Pumpkin Pie.

You're from Space Wisconsin.

For you, not having any cheese would be like having no breathable atmosphere, for other folks.

On Barsoom, we have delicious, milky plants and that it.

I am so sick of delicious, milky plants.

Only if they get shot at. Glass makes poor armor vs. plasma weapons. And Scarabs are a nightmare to begin with.

Sorry, that was from Halo 2. It was the Shade turrets that brought the Pelicans down in Halo 3. Same principle, though.

Halo.

Halo never changes.

In Space, no-one can hear you drink Cosmic Scottish Stout combined with Interstellar Irish Whiskey.

Which is just as well, seeing as it wouldn't be very interesting for the person (or Thing) listening.

The Valkyrie Assault Carrier is my choice followed very closely by the ARC 170.

I liked the SDF-1, it really symbolized American craftsmanship and ingenuity.

By breaking down all the time and never working how it's supposed to.

I also really liked the Veritech Hover Tanks from The Masters series.

Sounds like a call to open Rebellion. Everyone gather your X-Wings and scatter.

The A-wing is my second favorite ship in Star Wars only dethroned by the ARC 170 that now takes the first place spot.

I love the B Wing. The most advanced heaviest hitting fighter out there with the strongest shields. Designed to go toe to toe with capital ships.

I say we settle this like Hynerians. Super Dimension Trilogy vs. Robotech: The winner is declared for whomever successfully releases a new line of transforming toys into the U.S. mass market starting now. Bonus points awarded for undermining toy sales of M. Bay's upcoming creatively hollow, childhood memories-destroying Vapidformers: Super Masturbatory Explosions sequel.

None of these ships compare to The Mighty V-Giny!

Hmmm... TIE Defender?
~looks it up~
Wow that thing looks crazy, and I fly a B Wing.
Surely that thing can't be better than a B Wing?
Speed? Wow in boosted mode it's twice as fast as a B Wing...
Maneuverability? 50% greater than the B Wing. Not surprising since the B Wing isn't a dog fighter.
FTL? the same.
Shields? the same.
Armor? Ah the B Wing has over 4 times the armor of the tissue paper Defender.
Targeting system? The B wing has multiple systems and the TIE Defender has none.
Firepower you say? Ion Cannons: B=3
D=2(but with a higher output)
Laser Cannons: B=1 (capital scale)+ Twin auto blasters
D=4
Missiles: B=12 proton missiles
D=6 proton missiles

Clearly my B Wing has greater firepower AND improved ability to direct that firepower.

And for an overall comparison? Sure that pesky Defender will run circles around my B Wing, BUT with my greater firepower, greater armor, and improved ability to actually hit what I am shooting at the Defender will likely be blown to pieces in one shot. While it will take a few shots for the Defender to chew through my armor. I would say I have an even chance against the Defender one on one and if I am properly escorted the Defender stands no chance.
