What level range are you looking at playing?
I really wanted to make the Medium work, but I don't think it's viable as a true switch hitter, at least much before 11th. Champion spirit is the only one that really fulfills it role well, and is competitive with other marshals. Marshal has potential, doesn't really work until 11th. Hierophant and Archmage are both hamstrung by being 6th level casters with very little to make up for the loss (let alone other stuff the 9th level classes get like Domains, School abilities, etc.)
I think Storyteller Medium is also a reasonable choice. You're very similar to a Bard, with Archmage/Hierophant abilities instead of Bard spells, or very flexible skills. Champion and Marshal are mostly unusable though. :( This might be the most "jack of all trades" you're going to get with mostly medium.
Any Medium is going to want to take the new Legendary Influence feat. You really want some feat support to fulfill different roles, and this is how you get it.
However, I would consider Unsworn Shaman, or Medium 1/Unsworn Shaman X. It's thematically very similar: you invite a different spirit(/set of spirits) into your body each day and they give you a different slate of abilities. We have a thread discussing it here.
Shaman has the advantage of actually being a full 9 level caster. So if you decide you want to be a wizard today, you're at least in the same ballpark. The wizard probably has a bunch of feats. But you can pick up any metamagic feat through the Secret Hex, and in PFS you can pick up Spell Focus through the Fetish Hex (which is probably even better outside of PFS if crafting is allowed.) With the Medium dip, you've got another feat from Legendary Influence to work with and a nice +2 damage buff. If you want to be heal-y, Unsworn can get Channel and Life Link easily, with Selective Channel from LI. There are a couple of good Martial hexes, but they aren't awesome until 10th, when you can have Bane as a swift, Weapon Specialization, and Greater Trip.
You end up spread very thin on stats to get this to work though. I don't think there's a good way to get enough Dex to fit an archer option in.

Also consider the spirit dancer archetype. It ditches most uses of spirit surge, but allows you to fulfill a different role every encounter, should you wish.
You could for example cast heroism using archmage, switch to champion when combat starts, heal up afterwards using hierophant and take diplomacy with trickster for that social encounter at the end of the day. You will need to carefully manage your spirit dance rounds but I believe this way it can truly shine as a jack of all trades.
