Animal Companion self spells

If a Druid or a Hunter who is engaged in
Combat, say 60' away from their AC, can they still cast
"Self spells or You spells" on their AC and roll to hit by
using the Touch Armor Class? Or do the AC's have to
be physically Touched to get the spell ability/power/healing/etc?

The rules say
"The druid may cast a spell with a target of “You” on her animal companion (as a touch range spell) "
So No. Unless you use the reach metamgic feat to extend the range of the spell you must be able to touch the Animal companion

Then why is the answer no? The way it's worded I would think yes,
I'm slightly confused. I kinda see what your saying but your also saying another.

The range of the spell changes from self to touch.

Simply:
A touch range does not equivocate to a ranged touch attack. That's something else entirely.

So, if my animal companion wolverine is getting hammered in melee and needs healing but is some distance from his druid the druid can't cast Cure Light Wounds as a shared spell and the wolverine benefit from it? Unless he's actually touching the animal companion?

that's right.
John and Gray Mage are right.
'touch range' is another way of saying 'a range of touch'.
In the same way that you would say 'short range' and 'long range'.

That was the old 3.5 share spells.
