For PFS can a kikko get full benifit from being mithral?

Rules Questions

Can't find the answer, help would be appreciated. Would like "official source" I can copy to show GM's if answer is yes.

If you mean Kikko armor? Yes it can be mithral.

Its considered light armor for just about everything your character does with it except proficiency.

Its still considered medium armor for enchantments and the like (so no brawling enchant)

Not sure about armor tricks.

Is that an opinion or do you have some proof? I've bought other stuff based on multiply "opinions" in the past only to have a GM say "nope".

How would you like me to prove anything? They don't say each individual rule, strait out, three times in triplicate.

Kikko armor consists of hexagonal plates made from iron and sewn to cloth. The plates may be hidden by a layer of cloth or left exposed.

So yes, you can make it out of mithral. Its a fact. There's no argument against it.

So it appears it WILL be left up to a GM's opinion of whether the kikko is "mostly made of metal". I was hoping to have something to show a GM who decided it didn't qualify before I design a PC somewhat around the use of the armor...it will affect how much I invest in dex.

Liberty's Edge

Any GM who disallows Kikko from being Mithral is being overly strict and I'd stand up and walk away.

No.

That is not a valid opinion. That is the DM making stuff up. This is not a case of table variation, they simply cannot do that in organized play.

It is 25 pounds of iron sewn to cloth, in other words, a boatload of iron. You make that out of mithral, the weight halves the spellfailure drops etc.

Send them here. Have them make an argument that that's the case. I have NO idea what logic they're using to decide that they have a 25 pound shirt that's not made of metal.

Thanks guys, I guess I've become tentative and wanted some reassurance. This option (mithral kikko) solves several character concept issues better than elven chain or mithral breast plate.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Main thing is don't start with aggression. Just make your purchases as you believe the rules work and if you have questions come here or go to your venture officer.

If you feel a GM is disallowing your purchase incorrectly, calmly ask them why they feel it's not legal. State your case calmly. If they still say no, I would probably choose not to play that game if I felt it was a pretty clear issue. If it was a questionable issue, then I'd roll with it.

But escalate to your venture team. They will likely be able to help you come to a resolution on the issue.
